Long story short, the gel coat on my roof has failed in a number of spots despite periodic detailing and protection. The roof is stripped and awaiting next steps - clear coat or paint. Local shops do not want to attempt clear coating and are pushing me to paint to match the body color or jet black for contrast. Cost is not really the issue, just looking to do it right.
I am disappointed in BMW craftsmanship on their carbon fiber roofs. If it were on an E92 generation issue in certain climates, that is one thing. But, this issue is appearing on F generation cars as well. Even in cars without failure of the gel coat, yellowing is still an issue.
