Is Carly Battery Registration a Scam - Does it really work?

Any updates on this? Has anyone been able to do a successful registration lately?

I was able to successfully register my battery with a recent update they made. 2011.5 registering same battery capacity.

So it appears Carly forced me to download their new latest app since I was still using the old one and I don’t understand why it’s charging me to purchase the full app version again. I paid for the full version, battery registration and service reset 2 years ago and should this have been restored automatically? Tried hitting restore multiple times and then I get ‘restored purchases’ and yet still doesn’t unlock the full version. Am I missing something?

It also states that it is now a yearly subscription?? and for $59.99??? no thanks !!!

This is a subscription, which is charged yearly. The payment is handled over your iTunes Account after confirming the purchase. The subscription automatically renews for one year if it is not cancelled 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. Your subscription can be managed in the Account Settings of your iTunes Account after purchase and the automatic renewal can be deactivated there.

if you already paid for the app, theres a specific way you have to download the new one in order to keep your unlocked features. i think you had to open the old one, click to update to the new one, then either open the new one with the old one still installed or open the old one with the new one installed i forget but you def have to still have the old one installed in order to transfer to the new one

Yeah, that’s how it forced me to download the new one is when I opened the old app. Already deleted the old app thinking everything was ported over to the new app and validated my iTunes subscription.

Redownload the old one and delete the new one then just redo the process no big deal

Just replaced the battery and tried registering it through Carly.
It didn't work. Still shows the last registration from 20k miles ago

I have a 2011.75. Still not working on my car. I have tried over 10 times. Everything is updated and current. I have tried everything mentioned in this post. Carly states it is registered every time. I like Carly and have used the coding a lot. Just not working on registration of my battery. Time to pay a shop.

Download ISTA and use a KDCAN cable, very easy to register the battery that way

oh no i bought the Schwaben / Foxwell scanner thought would save some money when coming to registering new battery... then i saw this thread

My experience with the Schwaben tool is that it does reset the battery adaptation algorithm, which is the main point of the registration. However, it is not able to write the new mileage into the car's memory. My "evidence" for this is that after registration with the Schwaben tool my start/stop function worked again, which had stopped working several years earlier as the battery was getting weaker. So I think the car knows that there is a new battery...

that sucks... for the price of the tool you'd expect it to at least do that (battery registration) right...

oh well i guess i will still keep it for reading codes, also because i'm a tools hoarder...

Better to have it and not need it then not having it when needing it

Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to read the battery registration history on all vehicle models. We work on it.
However, this never interferes with the function itself.
If you make the battery registration and get no error, then you can be sure that it worked.
Your new battery is successfully registered.

I used this app recently on my newly acquired e93 M3. Not only did battery registration work, I was able to fix the software issue causing my original issue. Best money I have spent this far!

I tried to register batteries other than OEM and Robert gave me the same crap response with no solutions or care. Carly is a SCAM in my opinion, especially for the $60 per year to even keep it. I am planning to buy something different to manage my needs. Seriously, total crap.

Just to add that I registered battery with Carly in my 11.5 E92 M3, no error, says that it worked mileage-per-charge-level and last registered mileage all unchanged. I tried several attempt and no dice. Carly inside the app still says no change to registration state or mileage. I also tried registering, leaving for a night, and then coming back - and still the car thought I was on the old battery. This is using the Official Gen2 USB Dongle.

Used BMWLogger (the free version) - register battery. Done. This is using the ISTA/INPA USB cable. (the "better-known" cable)

Go back into Carly and it now tells me the last registered mileage = current mileage and all the mileage-per-charge-states reset to zero.

Based on that I am inclined to think that Carly isn't properly registering batteries. Also based on that and given that BMWLogger is able to register the battery tells me that it's a software issue, or an issue with the dongle.

For those that have been able to register with Carly are you using the dongle, and if so v1 or v2? Or were you using cable with USB to USB GOTG adapter?
I have all of these but as mine is now done I'm hesitant to keep trying and trying lest I brick something.

Battery Reg did not work for me as well.

Full version user here. Using DCAN cable though. Said it was registered but brought it by my brother's shop to double check...it wasn't registered. Had him do it while I was there.

the Brake Force lights code out did work for me though.

What made me question the registration was the new battery charge history status was not refreshing when reading the current battery info after registration.

I have been going through issues with battery drain. Initially, I purchased a new battery and registered the battery with Carly. This was confirmed by BMW West Houston during service to replace the EDC module which was causing the entire issue. Also, my Fidelity warranty covered the majority of the bill.
