Thanks. I'm:

Android
Official Carly Gen 2 OBD2 adapter
MY08, Jun timeframe

So I think we can cross off adapter issues I think. So need to see if there are SW differences between their IOS and Android releases. Also, I am pre-LCI and you are post-LCI....so not sure what differences there are in the DME module as it relates to battery registration.

Unless the only reason why yours worked so far (vs. everyone else) is that you are using a non-Carly OB2 adapter....which would be ironic indeed.

Heheeh...perhaps....once last question/favor....can you scroll down and take a screenshot of your charging battery history

like 70-85%
85-100%

Thanks.

Check post #84. It shows 0 for all the charging history... not exactly sure what that stat is?

Hi. If you are showing 0 across your charging history....something is screwy...

Charging history shows how many car operational minutes (rounded to hrs) that your car battery has been operating in from a % charge basis. The data is binned into different ranges, like 0-20%, 20-40%, etc.

Since you've registered your battery probably within the past year, your battery should be operating still in the highest bracket (forgot if it's 80-100% or 85-100% range bin). Based on your screenshot, you've driven at least 9,000 miles since. So you should have at least 150-400 operational hrs recorded since!

So if you are indeed showing 0 hrs across all bins...something is not right. That means all Carly did was provide an update that shows the battery charging history and reset the data to zero --> which is correct thing to do when the battery is registered. However, I would expect then that the battery registration that you did would be recorded at the same time....so your battery "Last Mileage Info" should read something closer to your current car mileage. In any event, something still is not sitting right here with even their recent update.

My mistake I guess the bottom part got cut off my previouss screenshot.

Here is another one I just took. 7000 hours charging

tried it again since they updated it twice and its still the same bullshit. last battery registration was at 0mi and the one before that was 0mi too even after re trying to register it. so all they did was basically redesign the menu and continue to charge and advertise for a function they claim is compatible but really isnt. glad i got refunded for this scam

Thanks...but this is looking screwy then. If you've driven 9000 miles and have 7000 battery charging operational hrs....that's like an avg 1.3 mph speed for your car over the 9000 mile driving period?!?! I'm worried that your charging hr history was not reset to zero when you registered the battery. Based on what I can find, a proper batter registration erases all past battery charging history logs.

Let me post a couple screenshots of mine later this weekend.

That's what I'm starting to suspect. Carly probably read this forum thread and did the quick damage control. Maybe I should start another thread on coding dynamic brake force display (BFD), which doesn't work either as advertised.

What's wrong with bfd? ;)
BTW, has anyone gotten BFD to work, or is it not working at all? So far, I've not been able to find if mine works, for obvious reasons.

Lol not sure how everything is calculated but 1.3 mph would obviously be too low.

Unfortunately the accurate number is probably only around 20mph since I'm stuck in LA commute traffic everybody haha.
iPhone 6S
comm-speed = fast
comm-depth = enhanced
conn-method = fast

Worked for me with these settings. Able to set and read updated registration mileage.

(I hope.)

It just pisses me up that I payed $15 in app that doesn't seem to work.
.
Did they raise the price?

So they've done 3 updates for the iPhone app in the past week where the release notes mention battery registration overhaul. And it still doesn't work.
Looks like it finally may have worked for me. I have a MY 2011.5.

There was an update to the Carly app a couple days ago, which mentions bug fixes to the battery registration.

Try it again folks!

Got the latest update to the Carly app (for Android) but it still doesn't work for me. I've tried over and over using different settings like slow, normal, enhanced communication and I've even tried coding my battery to a different type, registering it, coding it back again and registering again and each time Carly says it was successful but still shows no registration history. This is with a new, updated Carly adapter on my 09 M3.

Strange thing I've noticed is that my "Charging Battery History 55-70%" is the only field that is increasing over time. And I may have driven the car for only 1-2 hours but it has increased by 20+ hours.

@Hunt3R - Any luck with your battery registration? I'm struggling with the same problem on my 08 M3. Wish I would have found this thread before purchasing the app and adapter.

Bump- found this thread and notice that there is a mix of answers about it being able to register the battery or not.

Have they updated and fixed this registration issue?
Nope, battery registration still doesn't work for me with the latest Carly updates. I haven't really find anything useful that it has done for me for $120

Yea I'm in total agreement. Other than resetting brake pad mileage which I did with my buddies Carly.
I registered my battery with Carly a few months back, everything seemed to work fine. I took my car into the shop to see if my starter was failing and they checked my battery status and on Autologic (very expensive diagnostic equipment) it showed my battery was never registered and it showed 0km. Carly has a lot of bugs actually, for how long it's been out I'm surprised they haven't put out updates to fix these things.
