It is not an official recall so it doesn't show up in the system as such. And it is limited to production dates from December '09 to April '11. This is the SIB my dealer showed me covering my Sept '10 car...
i looked bmw's website and searched what appeared to be the service bulletin number on that document pictured, but i can't seem to find it. where did you get it? i want to get this done at my dealer and want to be armed with this document.

I heard rumors about it so I stopped by my dealer. I have a good relationship with the parts manager so I asked and he ran my VIN and found the SIB covering my car. It is not a recall so it won't show up under those searches. If your car was produced during the dates shown it should show up at the dealer when they run your VIN.

Edit: It has been a while but I recall they simply read my key and it came up...
fyi, I just got a notice for this although there was no SIB number on the paper. My car build date is August 2011.
Got the letter today. I guess I'll call and setup a time. This won't jack with the tune or anything will it?
Interesting. What is the build date on your car? It appears the SIB for M3's is expanding beyond the dates on the bulletin I posted earlier...
Not sure the build date. It's a 2011 so it could fall into that range
Did this. Then got the official recall notice. :sigh:
i got the notice in the mail today.

How do you figure out the month of your build?

Should be stamped on the plate inside the driver's side door frame...
Mine was in for AC evaporator replacement this past week and they did the battery cable recall while it was in there. Didn't even have to ask. (05/2010 build).
I had the cable replaced last week with the airbag. I didn't know about either until I brought my car in for a terrible water leak, allegedly because my sunroof drain had come undone. :confused2

2011 E90 M3
I just got the recall letter too. I'm hoping I can get the airbag soon too.
2012 e92 m3. Nothing here. Just left dealer.

Received a letter today for the cable as well. 7/11 Build Date. Still waiting for my air bags. :mad0259::mad0259::mad0259:
I called the dealer. She looked up my vin and I have an appointment tomorrow to get it replaced
Received the letter for my 2011.75
Got the letter this week. Called the dealer to make an appointment and when they checked the VIN the battery recall was showing up along side the airbag recall.
I then checked the BMW USA recall site and the battery recall was NOT showing.
If you want to find out when the airbag will be available for your car try calling the BMW NA shown in the letter above and ask what priority group you are in and when the fix will available. I called and they said I am in priority group 5, for which the final notice that will let dealer order airbag and do the recall will go out on June 30. Finally after two years...
Got also the notice in the mail today.

It is not technically a recall so it does not show up as such. I post the SIB earlier in this thread which outlines the production dates which are covered...
