What oil should I run in my car? V.2017consesus

Just purchased a 2009 and am about to do my first oil change. I searched but couldn't find any thread after 2013 and I know a lot has most likely been learned about these cars in the past 3+ years.

What is my best option on oil for this car? The Castrol on the oil cap?

Not sure if it's the best deal but I usually order the whole oil change kit from ECS... It makes it easy getting the filter, oil and drain plugs delivered all at once.

I have been running 0W40 M1 since I changed the rod bearings about 3 years and 25k miles ago at 60k miles Bearings are WPC treated stock, so no extra clearance. I bought Castrol Edge 0W40 for the next oil change since M1 is apparently no longer BMW LL1 certified. If I go to larger clearance bearings at the next bearing change, maybe around 120k miles, I might change to 10W60.

Mobile FS1 0W40 European formula, only a trackrat in florida benfits from any 10W60.

Anyone else running Liqui Moly 10W-60? My local Indy uses and recommends it. I'd be curious to hear others opinions on this oil.

After replacing my rod bearings with BE Bearings and OE rod bolts, I run Motul 300v Competition 15w50 as recommended by RRT: a shop specializing in BMW race cars. It comes in 2L bottles, about $32 each.

Liqui Moly is the shit. $40 for a 5L jug on Amazon.

Do not run this. It is much thicker than the BMW 10w60.

I am confused though. Which oil is that? I thought it was Pennzoil. But is it just the SHELL HELIX ULTRA RACING 10W-60? Can't find any 10w-60 oils under Penzoil.

I put Liqui Moly 10w60 in my personal M3 that has 106k miles and rod bearings replaced at 89k miles. Zero issues or noises etc. Superior protection and long life. I change my oil every 6k miles and blackstone always tells me I could wait another 3k miles. ( I never will)

Yea alot of us run it, also my engine builders suggested liquid moly or Total.

Yeah I talked to a couple drivers after The Mitty who were using it and they all had nothing but praise for Liqui Moly. They definitely convinced me to keep running it.

Total Racing 10w50 is the ideal for my DD s65.

At the moment im running Motul 10w60 as my dist was out of Total, but this Motul will only be in the car for about 2500miles.

Anyone try this oil for the guys who like to run Mobil 1 0W40 before they changed the formula? It say's it's BMW ACEA A3/LL01 compliant.
Better yet, it's on sale now too.
