Silverstone: nice complementing color on an m3?

Hey fellas.

I found a clean 2011 e90 m3 with zcp and 6mt in silverstone. It looks to be a nice car but I have never seen silverstone in real life. How does it look on an m3? Is it sporty looking? My preference was for a white or gray, but finding a clean nonstories 2011 zcp 6mt is a challenge.

I've seen the numerous online pictures but they seem to be in multiple shades. Hard to determine what it really looks like. This car is way too far for me to just stop by and look at it on the weekend.

You're observing the right things. Silverstone takes on different shades depending on light and surroundings, often green or blue hues. Those who have it seem to like it. Search around a bit more on the forum, you'll see plenty of commentary on it. Replies you get here will be in the same vein. It is a well liked color, but bottom line is that you may never get to see it in person so you're going to be making a judgement on pictures and what others have to say. My advice, if you want a bolder color that stands out then do not get Silverstone. Silverstone is beautiful, but is more understated. Same goes for Space Grey. At the end of the day, Silverstone is silver. If you like silver cars, then go for it.

Another good example is my Space Grey M3 that sits next to a grey Acura MDX. Space Grey is so much more beautiful, deeper, richer, better quality, etc. but at the end of the day is still grey.

I actually think it's one of the nicer colors. It has different color effects under different lighting.

That's what I have and it's a great color. I get compliments all the time on the color. It def changes depending on how the light hits it. It'll look silver and then almost blueish/silver sometimes too. Hard to describe but looks awesome. It's really easy to keep clean also. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

SSII was one of my top color choices. It's not flashy but it looks really nice, and if you care about being a bit more unique it's a pretty rare color, especially on the later E90 M3's. Seems most are white, gray, or black.

Interior is black?

Did you check local dealers to see if there are any Silverstone M3's on their lots? Maybe even an E60 M5?

I have a silverstone e92 m3 and I like it. I get many compliments on the color. Only complaints is on cloudy days it looks baby blue. Even more so if it's dirty. Also, in my opinion it doesn't go great with carbon fiber parts like grill or lip etc... went gloss black with all my exterior parts after trying carbon. Others opinions will differ but that's my $.02.

Yes, it has a black interior.

In fact it has the standard speedcloth interior which is another configuration I have never seen in person as well. All the cars I have looked at have Novillo. I'm starting to read the pros and cons of speed cloth now.

Challenging to say the least regarding making a possible purchase sight unseen. I'm anxious to get into an m3, but want to make sure I buy a good one that can be a long termer.

I love my SSII. Always looks clean and different shade of blue, silver.

You should wait and look for the car that has (most of) the features you want?

Best thing to do is go pay a visit to dealers that have M3's to see the difference. Or go to "car meets" for a personal review from the owners.

SSII is exactly what the others have said. Some say that it's a "chick color" but it really comes down to who's behind the wheel driving it.
It blends in with the rest of the cars on the road, until you alter the look (lip, wheels, lowering...).

Also correct me if I'm wrong? SSII is the least of manufacturer colors maid for the E90 M3.

SSII is my first color choice. Except the factory matte colored ones. They're meh.

Disagree. Space Grey IS the best color for an M3 !

Not the best quality pictures but silverstone has amazing shadow contrast, esp at night.

The color contrast with dark pieces looks so good.

I had a Silverstone I (more blue in it) E39 M5 and my best bud has a Silverstone II E90. Both look great, and it was actually my #1 choice for my E39 (and remains so). Got compliments all the time. The E90 SSII is a little more plain silver and less unique, but I still think it's a really great color. Was definitely in my top 3 when I was shopping.

I submit for OP's consideration: when I see another BMW at a distance in SS II I know right away it is the Motorsport variant. To me, SS II is a bit more recognizable and unique of an M color than say the gray, black, red or white colors off of the E9X M-series palette.

With that said, I don't think SS II really goes all that well with any of the interior options...I have Palladium Silver (which is just ok IMHO).

I have had mine for over 5 yrs and am astonished at how hard I have to look to see the swirls. My previous black sapphire 335i showed swirls after the first few washes even though I hand washed it myself.

OP, silverstone is a stunning colour. Ended up in AW myself which is ok but SS looks even better imo and on top is ///M specific.
Also finding a clean E90 ZCP isn't that easy as fairly rare (1220 to US out of 1500 made WW). I'd say make a run for it.

It's not bad. Grows on you. Wasn't my first choice (prefer Black), but it was the only one that came on the local market (w/ full maintenance records) in the past 6 months.

SSII reminds me of the Honda championship white. Most people won't know what they're looking at but those who know will know, y'know
