I installed my performance II non-electric today, loving the end product. I am curious though, upon initial startup I was welcomed with the high battery discharge rate warning. Could I have buggered something up by disconnecting the negative terminal, or is the pure coincidence?

Good day!
My e90 330i just built this BP Ele.Steering Wheel, everything is going well, ONLY one tiny issue...No Oil Temp Show Up?
Need Coding? Or Re-Connected Battery?(We did not do disconnect Battery in this time.)
I just found two versions of Instruction of installation from BMW AG, I used the 2008 version.
Any Suggestion? Many thanks!
Tony

Can anyone post pictures of how to install the M performance wheel (non-electric) on a DCT car? thanks
03///m3 wroteJust did this today (non-electric). I just used the same pics when it came to removing the original steering wheel. Was very easy. Great write-up!Can anyone post pictures of how to install the M performance wheel (non-electric) on a DCT car? thanks
I also used the same pics when it came to removing the original steering wheel. Yes it is very easy. but after i installed the performance wheel my air bag light come on. Anybody know how can i fix that??
doba_s wroteWould you be willing to install mine? How much would you charge?Hey guys,
Here is DIY on how to install BMW Performance Steering Wheel. It is not very difficult you just need to take your time and pay attention to what you are doing.
Tools:
1. Not very big Flathead Screwdriver
2. 16mm or 5/8 socket with wrench and extensions
3. T25 torx socket ( i think it is T25 but I might be wrong)
4. Very small flathead screwdriver
5. 10mm socket
If you are local ( Bay Area ) I can install it for you
This DIY is for you just to look/read and get an idea on how it can be done. I am not encouraging you to do this installation. I will not be responsible for anything that might happen to you, your vehicle, or anybody who might be helping you, or anything else.
Before you start taking everything apart you need to read PDF Instructions in the Post#3 at the bottom and get familiar with it. Make sure you understand what goes where. After you did that, I would recommend to label supplied BMW harness with A1,A2,A3,A4,A5,A6, and A7 tags. It will be easier to figure out what goes where.
1. Disconnect your Battery and make sure your (-) Negative terminal will not be touching battery
2. Remove lower plastic panels on both sides (passenger/driver). I just have picture of the passenger side
Driver side
3. Read PDF instruction and unplug Blue connector
4. Release the side tabs and pop off the Black/Grey connector that is inside the Blue one.
5. Read PDF installation and remove Blue/Red wire from Pin1 and Red from Pin2. Insert A3 into Pin1 and A4 into Pin2. Now install wires that you removed from Pin1 and Pin2 into Connector E
Pulling out wires from Pin1 and Pin2
Connector E
Wires from Pin1 and Pin2 inserted into Connector E
Wires A3 and A4 inserted into big Black connector into Pin1 and Pin2 and Connector E connecter to A5
6. Now you can install Control Module B and connect A6 to the module

Thanks! I'm in San Jose.

The person who I bought my wheel from cut off connector A5 (the connector in which E plugs into). Now I have 2 Blue/Red wires and 2 Red wires on the end. Is there any way to tell which ones are which on up the harness?
After looking at the circuit diagram in post #132 above, it seems that both sets of wires are spliced to one another. So with that said...does it REALLY matter which is which?
EDIT: I figured out based on the pics that the previous seller took for me which pair was which.
Also, if you guys need new pins for the socket, the BMW dealer is your best bet. The part number for 1-pin is 61131393724. Theyre $0.66 apiece.

Not sure what is going on, but I don't seem to have the airbag release holes on the back or side of the wheel. Just the three hex screws holding the plastic together. Ideas?
Bavarian Beast wroteLook harder, they are there. Not sure what is going on, but I don't seem to have the airbag release holes on the back or side of the wheel. Just the three hex screws holding the plastic together. Ideas?
They are just little slits in the plastic.
Ok. Thanks. I was looking for holes not small slits.
FStop7 wroteJust wondering I just installed mine and I couldn't get it to 75 one I felt like I was gunna break it and two I had a manual one it feels very right just wanted to knowI've done wheel swaps on a 335i and an E46 M3, in both cases I'm pretty sure it was recommended to torque to 75lb-ft.
The perf wheel looks good, btw. I just wish it had M stitching.
Thanks mike
Mike135is wroteIt was mentioned somewhere in this thread that it should be 46~47 ft-lb and not 75 ft-lbJust wondering I just installed mine and I couldn't get it to 75 one I felt like I was gunna break it and two I had a manual one it feels very right just wanted to know
Thanks mike
Leonardo629 wroteAs a public service: tighten your steering wheel to 46~47 ft lb, or 62.5 nm per the service manual. I saw 75ft lb posted somewhere in this thread, and that's too much torque!
ijnoj09 wroteOk perfect because I could only get it to around 45lbs !!Mike135is wroteIt was mentioned somewhere in this thread that it should be 46~47 ft-lb and not 75 ft-lbJust wondering I just installed mine and I couldn't get it to 75 one I felt like I was gunna break it and two I had a manual one it feels very right just wanted to know

Well, i pulled the trigger and ordered the V2 wheel for my M3 DCT, should be here tuesday. Looking forward to the install
The wheel is finally installed... 2013 M3 w DCT and it works flawlessly.
used Pin3 from JBE for power and PIN 6 for ground. The instructions otherwise were outstanding and i had zero issues with the install.
Took about 2 hours, and it works great, shift lights and all.

does anyone know if the M Performance Wheel will work with a car that has a manual transmission?
turner_green wroteMy 335i was a manual - it's a different wheel - in that it just doesn't have paddles.does anyone know if the M Performance Wheel will work with a car that has a manual transmission?
Cepheus wroteSame here. Have you figured out how to make it go away?I also used the same pics when it came to removing the original steering wheel. Yes it is very easy. but after i installed the performance wheel my air bag light come on. Anybody know how can i fix that??
thorny wroteHey I unplugged the battery before installation but still got the same warning. Did you replace the cable or just a simple computer reset?thorny wroteI solved my problem. Got Bavarian Technic cable and erased the code. If you face the same problem and decide to go the same route, be sure to turn on hazard flashers, otherwise cable wont communicate!I just installed my new Alcantra steering wheel (non-electric). I forgot to disconnect the battery and now I have a Pass. Restraint Error.Any ideas on how to get rid of it? Thank you.
