not sure about e90 or e92 but e93 has a nice access hole that allows you to pop out the gill without uch effort. have not seen anyone mention this when diy info is posted. just create this simple tool.

Just checked my E90. No side gill access hole.
Why use that tool when you can stick packing tape to it and pull.

BimmerM wrotePretty crafty little tool you made, but seriously this packing tape method is magic. Pure genius.
BimmerM wrotei still dont understand you DIY... what did you do with the tape? did you put it behind the side gill??? if yes, how you can put it behind??? at my side gill, the is no space...
Robmaster wroteYou just stick the tape on the top and bottom surface of the gills leaving enough tape at the end to grab on to then grab hold of the tape and gentally pull the gill out. It'll make it easier if you grab the gill at the same with your other hand to wiggle it up and down while you yank the taped portion.i still dont understand you DIY... what did you do with the tape? did you put it behind the side gill??? if yes, how you can put it behind??? at my side gill, the is no space...
It will literally take less than 5 seconds to pop out.
