Background:
I live in a neighborhood with an HOA. It's an affluent neighborhood with all homes probably in the 3,000 - 4,000 sq ft range and most with 3-car garages.
Part of the CC&Rs is no street parking - which I am a fan of. It's rarely enforced unless people complain, and our neighborhood also backs up to a middle school (my house & street specifically).
When I bought this house people used to pull into my driveway to drop their kids off or pick them up. Or park in my driveway to cut through my yard to the sports fields - not kidding. I moved my fences up & installed a driveway gate & got nasty notes left on my door for blocking access to the school for like 6 months.
Last year, due to a push by our neighborhood, to stop all the parents from lining our streets & blocking the entrances to neighborhood when dropping off & picking up their kids, the Town installed no parking signs along all our streets with specific times - goes for home owners too.
Yesterday was the first day of school and of course a thousand cars filled our neighborhood. Police drove through and gave warnings. Today they started writing tickets.
A neighbor whose house is across from mine always parks his X3 on the street & walks across his yard to his door. I don't get it, he's got a large garage & driveway.

Today a ticket was placed on his X3 along with 5 other vehicles parked on my street & I'm sure vehicles parked on the other streets.
Here's where it gets funny. About an hour after the X3 was ticketed, he comes pulling out of his driveway in his Tesla & sees the ticket. As he stops his Tesla in the middle of the street, the Cop happens to pull around the corner. He stops the Cop and proceeds to argue with him for about 15 min. Lots of shouting, arms swinging around, pointing down the street, etc.
Cop drives off & the neighbor swings around and parks his Tesla on the street behind the X3, stomps across his yard, pulls his Escalade ESV out of the garage and parks it on the street behind the Tesla, and proceeds to wave his arms at the cop driving away.
I mean if that doesn't show em, I don't what will. He's left all 3 parked on the street since the ticket, so we'll see if he ends up moving them or getting more tickets.
TX is the only state I've lived in (6 different states) where people park in the street & not their driveways or garages. I honestly don't understand it, and nobody has ever given a good explanation as to why.
Anyway, that entertainment today provided a nice break from working on my computer all day.
