I’m considering bidding on this no-reserve 2010 E92 M3 6-speed currently on Bring a Trailer and wanted to ask if anyone here recognizes the car or has any advice before I bid.

BaT listing: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2010-bmw-m3-coupe-24/
VIN: WBSWD9C52AP362696
2010 BMW M3 coupe, Alpine White over black leather, 6-speed, single-hump, carbon roof, approx. 114k miles.

From the Carfax, it appears to be a California car since new. It was originally sold through BMW of San Francisco in late 2009 and has lived in California throughout its history. Carfax shows 45 service history records, 4 previous owners, no title brands, no total loss, no structural damage, no airbag deployment, and no odometer rollback indicated. There is one minor front damage report from 2/15/2022.

The second ownership period seems to have been the longest. The car had a lot of service at Rick’s German Performance in Atascadero from around 2015–2018.

The current BaT seller acquired the car in 2025 and has been responsive in the comments. The car has recent rod bearing documentation from Performance Dynamic showing VAC coated bearings and ARP 2000 bolts. The seller also uploaded photos of the removed bearings and stated the service was paid/completed. He also says the oil filter housing gasket, ABS sensor, TPMS sensors, Servotronic issue, SRS/seat items, seatbelt warnings, and warning lights have been addressed and that the car currently has no warning lights.

The car is definitely modified. It has a CAE shifter, AE Performance roll bar, rear seat delete, Euro front bumper, LCI taillights, Style 359 wheels, Magnaflow exhaust, Macht Schnell underdrive pulley, BimmerWorld engine mounts, AKG transmission mounts, solid diff/subframe bushings, Fall-Line rear toe arms, GAS thrust arm bushings, Meyle ball joints, StopTech pads, wheel studs, and manual Sport seats replacing the factory power seats at some point.

I like the car, but I’m trying to understand whether this is a well-sorted enthusiast build or a car that may still need a lot of sorting after purchase.

A few things I’m hoping the forum can help with:

1. Does anyone recognize this car from California, previous owners, canyons, cars & coffee, track/HPDE, or local BMW shops?
2. Any concerns with this combination of mods on a 114k-mile E92 M3?
3. Would the CAE shifter, roll bar, solid bushings, and rear seat delete make you assume prior hard track use even if the current seller says he did not track it?
4. A BaT commenter mentioned possible speed cloth door cards, leather seats, a visible passenger footwell cable, and hood/bumper/headlight alignment. Anything specific I should ask or inspect there?
5. For the 2022 minor front damage, what should I look for beyond normal panel alignment?
6. Would you require a DME/over-rev report, full code scan, compression/leakdown, or collision inspection before bidding remotely?
7. Assuming the seller’s answers check out, where would you value a high-mile, modified, no-reserve E92 M3 like this versus a cleaner stock car?

I’m not trying to pick the car apart. The seller has been responsive and the car looks like a fun build. I’m just trying to do my homework before bidding from out of state.

Thanks in advance and Happy 4th!
This car's been touched by many stranger hands. You may be chasing after assurances that simply do not exist.

This is why the buying market puts immense value on bone stock cars. Personally speaking, I wouldn't touch a modified M with a ten foot pole unless the owner was someone like me.

You get what you can afford.

Gl!
I am surprised it got to $36k but BaT does bring top dollar, and it's only a few grand higher than what my guess was. Not a crazy price for it given the market.

My thoughts on your questions, in case anyone wanted to discuss

1. Does anyone recognize this car from California, previous owners, canyons, cars & coffee, track/HPDE, or local BMW shops? not I
2. Any concerns with this combination of mods on a 114k-mile E92 M3? you only make those mods if you track it or you're a hotboi racer kid. On these cars, track time would not scare me away at all provided the owner took good care of the car. The ladder would scare me. Given the mods, combined with it having stock suspension and that silly 335i style exhaust, I'd say some boi racer owned this at one point
3. Would the CAE shifter, roll bar, solid bushings, and rear seat delete make you assume prior hard track use even if the current seller says he did not track it? See my last answer. It either got tracked a good amount, or modded by some broccoli-haired kid
4. A BaT commenter mentioned possible speed cloth door cards, leather seats, a visible passenger footwell cable, and hood/bumper/headlight alignment. Anything specific I should ask or inspect there? Probably sold the seats as a set, then got a good deal on black leather ones. My guess is previous owner had race seats that were sold already. The car has definitely been touched a lot. Def some red flags, but no deal breakers
5. For the 2022 minor front damage, what should I look for beyond normal panel alignment? Photos of the damage would be ideal. Not something that scares me if it just needed a new bumper
6. Would you require a DME/over-rev report, full code scan, compression/leakdown, or collision inspection before bidding remotely? That would be ideal but good luck getting that from the seller. Auctions are very much "as-is"
7. Assuming the seller’s answers check out, where would you value a high-mile, modified, no-reserve E92 M3 like this versus a cleaner stock car? Well we have our answer now. Selling price was more than my guess given the miles, but that seems to be the going rate for these. I think if it were same condition but 100% stock it'd get a similar price..??
Theses cars aren't cheap.
I've got $34,300 into mine.
Maybe it's worth $36,000 after being stored for 3 years. Similar specs.
