About to get my new G80. I am familiar with paint coatings but not so much with plastic.

I wonder if is worth coating the interior/engine bay plastics?

I know it won't protect from scratches but maybe from fading? And help stay cleaner?

How long do you plant to keep the car?
Who will ever see engine bay plastics and care about their cosmetic appearance?
Same w.r.t. interior pieces - are you going to drive and enjoy the car, or park it in a garage and preserve it as a museum piece?

I've ceramic coated my interior and engine bay covers for ten years or so. Doesn't take long and keeps a cleaner overall look.

I say, get the car done and use the leftovers in the engine bay. With so much gloss black and carbon finishes in cars interiors, it really helps.
Yes, it's always worth it.

I used Sonax Plastic Detailer on my engine recently and it worked great.
My brother has recently convinced me to give Mequire's Ultimate Black a try so I may do that the next time I deep clean the interior.

Here's engine bay on an 11 year old Bimmer w/ clean & Sonax

I also use Sonax Plastic Detailer, it's an excellent product
Sonax Plastic Detailer is really good. I also have Stoner Trim Shine and it works very well.
