Feeler: 2011 Audi S5 Prestige 4.2l V8 6spd manual, 25k miles

Contemplating selling my 2011 S5 to make space for a 997 that I have a line on. I picked this S5 up on BaT last summer and have since put about 800 dry sunny day miles on it. Car is mint, inside and out, top to bottom, and needs absolutely nothing. After buying the car I had a comprehensive service performed including all fluids and spark plugs. I have added Bilstein coilovers, OEM 19" Rotors, and have replaced the front resonators with JHM straight pipes (the cats and the rear OEM mufflers are untouched). I also added an 034 trans mount and Cocomats (black/terracotta- not pictured). I have all original parts for the car including the wheels. I also have a binder of all documentation on the car including the original window sticker and every service record since new. Up until the most recent service, everything was done at the selling dealer. Clean Carfax which shows all maintenance entries.

my subjective valuation of the car is based on the rarity.... given it's spec, condition, service history, and mileage.

Very difficult to find a comparable 3 pedal/v8 sale. This was the closest I have seen and it sold for $48k with buyer fees.

It's a very similar driving experience to an e92 m3. They are cut from the same cloth IMHO, with some pros and cons for each. I have loved owning both of them and wish they still made cars like these.

Interesting take. I owned a 2009 S5 6MT and currently drive a 2012 E93 M3 6MT. The M3 is a completely different car - especially the motor. The S5's V8 always felt anemic to me, even before I drove an M3. It just felt like a huge miss from Audi in what was otherwise a great platform. My car had 70k on it so maybe it needed a carbon cleaning, but I can't imagine that would've moved the needle enough for me not to sell it. The M3's V8 feels downright violent in comparison - which is saying something for a motor with a notoriously low torque number.

If you can get past that, there's a lot to like about the B8 S5. It has hydraulic steering with excellent road feel (the B8.5 moved to electronic and feels like a video game in comparison). I also agree with Walter de Silva that it's the most beautiful car he ever designed. In fact it's arguably Audi's most timeless design, and I think it looks much better than the E92. Lastly, the platform makes a great touring car. The suspension isn't as aggressive as the M3. And Quattro is King. I drove 6,000 miles across the country on both paved and unpaved roads and it was the perfect car for it.

I bought mine for $13k in 2020. Guess times have changed.

Maybe a carbon cleaning would've helped more than I thought. Those motors are notorious for it and mine had a lot more miles than yours does. If I can find the E92 I'm looking for before you sell (so it's an even comparison), I might take you up on that.
