1) It depends. If purely for the promise of better phone call quality, then no. At first I thought the quality was significantly better but after a few calls I noticed that people couldn't hear me well. They sound fine but I sound garbled. I tried an external mic but no improvement. It could be that wireless Android Auto (haven't tried carplay) just uses too much compression on the outgoing audio. It might sound slightly better with wired but I didn't do very thorough testing - instead I reverted back to my car's bluetooth for calls. For me the largest upgrade is the way that volumes are controlled. You can separately adjust the volume of calls, nav, media, etc and when using voice guidance it's much less disruptive, more like the CIC's own attenuation without cutting out audio during voice nav.

2) no - the P2000 takes power from the quadlock while the P3000 takes power from the i-drive controller. You can keep the LVDS and microphone cables but not the main harness. The P3000 is easier to install as the P2000 harness takes up a lot of space with it's biq quadlock connecter. Swapping from the P2000 took me about 20 minutes.

I listed my P2000 on fb marketplace and quickly sold it for $350, so the upgrade cost was $150. The only step backward with the P3000 is one that I assume will be fixed with a software update - the ability to use your camera in full screen while also using PDC guides and guidelines

I recently went from a CCC unit and the first gen 12 volt, to a CIC unit and a P3000 12 volt. While doing this, I also retrofitted front PDC (OEM) as well as a rear camera and front camera.

I have a 6MT. Seems that I found a post here from 2022 stating that this combination won't work. Seems that still hasn't changed!

To top it off - support is just abhorrent. I have stated at least 5 times now my front camera does not kick on, and the guy just keeps coming back saying "looks like your rear camera is working fine!" Super weird.

I've even offered mitigating workarounds like, give us a button on the screen to click to toggle between cameras, or when we're out of reverse mode to kick on the front camera, etc. To no avail. Seems it's only mean to work with Automatic (DCT). Super disappointing. I may just have to put in some sort of composite switch box so I can alternate between cameras.

I'm using PDC to toggle the camera on and powering the camera from Mr 12, and not tapping into the reverse lights. Personal preference, but it's not too hard to switch if I needed to. With having front PDC coded in, PDC stays active even when out of reverse up to a certain speed so that you can use the front sensors. OEM feature. So much more can be done here but they don't seem to be interested. Sad, i'm happy to test things out.

Not to mention, the phone button on the steering wheel still does not toggle a call to start / stop. I have found somewhere that it's possibly due to that command going to a different module but it's totally doable. It's super weird to have to use the scroll wheel to move around 15 steps to hang up!

After several days of silence, I get a reply from mr12volt support : send us a video on how the camera is connected. Wow. 1. How could anyone screw this up (it's one or two connectors depending how you want to power the camera but 2. This has no bearing on it displaying video (like let's assume it's "not connected right" it would show a black screen. This thing is not designed to show front video as it wasn't programmed for a 6MT car.

The easiest way to fix this would be for whenever PDC is enabled, it displays both video feeds side by side. I have retrofitted front PDC, so I now have a PDC button I can push at any time.

I'm just going to build a multiplexer that combines two cameras into one screen and input that to the reverse camera feed. I'll update everyone once I get this implemented - goal being whenever PDC is activated it will display both front and rear cameras side by side. A dumb workaround but obviously this company isn't there for us.
