Cool trivia about the names, thanks for putting it together. Can't help but think it is a bit of the classic //Msnobbery to suggest that Monaco Blue isn't named after a racetrack just because it isn't an //M-color - WTH else is there in Monaco? (but perhaps I'm going all McCarthy-era on the //Msnobs, seeing them under every post? :)).
My thoughts exactly, but there's really no point arguing with certain people

In a parallel universe, if Le Mans Blue wasn't an M-color, he would argue that Le Mans Blue is named after the sky above Le Mans, and not the track itself.
Interlagos is best blue.

My favorites are Laguna Seca Blue and Donnington Grey
I'm guessing Phoenix Yellow was actually named after the F1 race that used to run in the streets of Phoenix, AZ rather than PIR. Just a guess, since there's not much special about PIR. Very cool post.

Isn't Silver Gray a M3 CSL color and put on E46 M3 and E85/86 M roadster/coupe in 2006-2008?
Splitting hairs, but neither Silver nor Grey are race tracks
LBB... but I am biased

There is an Atlanta Blue? I thought Atlantic Blue and Atlantis would cause enough confusion.

There is also Atlantis Blue (207) which is an 80s color.

Atlanta Blue is a Z3 color

Silver Grey is not an M color, nor it has anything to do with racing. Not exactly sure why you brought it up.
Daytona Violet metallic is always a favorite color of mine
Had Interlagos Blue and loved it.
Have Imola Red II and love it.

Thank you for pointing it out. I was wondering why BMW decided to name a color after an oval. Phoenix street circuit makes much more sense.
Nice post thx!
I love Sakhir Orange but I'm biased too :)

I've always loved Laguna Seca Blue. Been tempted to wrap my E90 in it but I don't think it pops as much as it would on an E92, so I've held back.

Guess I like blue and it's variants lol
My favorite are Macao and Singapore

Dark Blue shades get me, classy and sporty at the same time.

Yup, especially with people that are struggling with pattern recognition and reading comprehension. The thread was called "BMW M colors" after all.

Silver Gray is for the E46 M3
Great thread OP. Just wanted to point out, you're missing one color! Lime Rock Grey, only available on the M4 CS as of now.

Great post OP.

I prefer reds, silvers, and blues. Currently my favorite is SMB, but the silvers are easier to live with as a DD. Reds are always sexy.

You missed out Laguna green, apologies for the poor quality pic but it's a copy of a photo from 1998 of my old M5
It's Lagoon Green and it's not related to the Laguna Seca

Hmmm, this one is a head scratcher. BMW decided to classify it as a Special Order color. Is it a borrowed color, like the Nardo and Suzuka Grey?
I didn't see lime rock grey. I may have missed it

But that's one of my favorites!
