However, called dealer today. US dealers are not allowed to order EU tail lights, because they are not DOT approved!

DOT approved is yellow and red turn signals, so this EU one should be allowed. But, as BMW never asked DOT to allow the EU turn signals in the US, they are officially not allowed. Even if other cars/brands have yellow turn signals standard...
