Artemis wroteI appreciate you respect his privacy, but if you have an email address can you email him instead of just communicating via PM? Thanks.Right after lifting the ban, I sent him a PM to inform him accordingly.
So there is a chance that my PM also features inside his mailbox outside BP (e-mail address linked to his BP account) and not only features inside his BP PM mailbox.
I strictly respect his privacy and only communicate private messages with BP PM. Same counts for all of you.
vreihen16, if you happen to read this: you were brought back from the dead. Let me crack a joke to cheer you up:

This thread about vreihen16 and the one right after is about Val Kilmer, made me think, "Oh no, that can't be possible."

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes ?
I think I found him. Stay tuned. If it is him, he's fine.
I've seen people banned for righteous reasons, but I've also seen people banned for very minor things as well that really ought not to have been banned for IMO. Sadly, some of these people in the latter camp contributed significantly to the forums (and the resulting info that caused traffic to the site, which brings in money for the owners) so it just seems stupid altogether. Should be some moderation of the moderators.
Generally, these people get pissed and decide to either scale back significantly on their contributions under a new handle and eventually drop off altogether or just don't make the effort to register again.
If vreihen16 got banned, I would completely understand why he is pissed off and justifiably so I'm sure - he was always very careful about not crossing lines and warning others as well when he thought they might be crossing a line. I can't fathom what he might have done to get banned, but I do suspect that if he is pissed off, he'll cool down in a few weeks and return.
Or alternatively, he won't, and given he seems relatively computer savvy, he might find that mod and do something to their computer to correct their behaviour lol.

Watching The World Burn wroteIf he was banned and he's not any longer, I hope he comes back. His posts were interesting, intelligent and fun. A definite contribution to our Off-Topic group....I can't fathom what he might have done to get banned, but I do suspect that if he is pissed off, he'll cool down in a few weeks and return...
I somehow got banned once for no reason. I hadn't even posted anything. It was obviously a mistake, either human or some auto-setting run amok. In any case, I was back to normal in a few hours. If he got banned, it was probably the same issue. Just a mistake.

If in a real-life situation a guest fails to respect legitimate house rules, he/she should not be surprised to get escorted out by the host. Comply or leave.
The COVID-19 era marked a change in behavior, sometimes bringing out the worst, turning places into 'Toxic Town' cesspools, poisoning the atmosphere of respect, courtesy and camaraderie. Actually, the main reason for the demise of the former 'Politics & Religion' section (see here) and for issuing a reminder for mutual respect (see here).
Furthermore, over the past couple of years, Bimmerpost also encountered a significant increase of spammers and scammers. Admins and moderators go to great lengths to take them down, but it's a never-ending 'whack-a-mole' battle.
Hence, the permaban 'nuke button' is pushed with less reservation than it used to be.
Friendly fire can happen.
I just heard from him. He’s fine. I don’t even think he knew about the ban. I let him tell you all about his adventure. He’ll catch up soon
