Happiness is a new M3

Brothers, converts and followers of the holy Roundel....

I'm an olde fart and have had a lifelong dream to obtain an M3 and do so in memorable fashion. After years of blood, sweat, toil and favorable stock appreciation I am in sight of my dream. On August 26th, I will collect my dream car in Munich and spend some much anticipated time exploring the Bavaria. I’ll have the opportunity to pay homage to the factory (and maybe they won’t notice if a few special bits go missing) and delivery center. Then I’ll be like a kid at Christmas waiting for redelivery to the PDC. I’m really looking forward to bombing the Blue Ridge parkway on the return ride across the country back to Texas. It should be October timeframe and some nice top-down weather through the scenery. I couldn’t help myself, so please pardon the interruption and return to your normally scheduled web surfing.

I am in Houston also with a sparkling graphite E93. Live out in the Sugar Land area and frequently travel 59 to Galleria and Downtown areas. What side of town are you on?

Houston driving isn't so great, but there's a lot of fun top down driving in the hill country.

Congrats and good for you! How long will you be in Bayern? You'll love it: it's great for driving. Try to get into the Bavarian Alps (Garmisch, Berchtesgaden); and the lakes south / SW of München, like Ammersee or Starnberger See are good day trips; and the Romantische Strasse is also recommended.

If you go to a Kloster (monastery, like Andechs) for some dark bier ("Dunkles"), I recommend that you have a lie down before driving

Lots of Houstonians here. GolfNut, I've got the same color combo on the E92 I've ordered. SG with black extended leather and carbon leather trim. My wife and her family are from the Sugar Land area and I work downtown, so hopefully I'll see your car around and see what my car will look like.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I've been driving BMWs since '93. I got the vert bug bad when living in California and haven't been able to shake it. Granted that Tejas may not be the top-down capital, it sure helps me gain my personal zen when the wind is blowing through my (remaining) hairs.

@ase2dais - thanks for the PCD info. I may have to leave the passenger side seat cover at home to maximize the event. Plus their tends to be strange noises emitted from the passenger side when I take ramps @ 2X speed in my 330. Who knows the escalation when I get my M3.

@voltigeur - the alps are definately in my agenda. I can't wait to try the twistys, although it will be somewhat restrained until 1200 miles pass.

@my fellow Texans - glad to see so many out there. I'm in West U and have been to many a track day at TWS. Look forward to getting my new ride out for some "car control classes" and perhaps catching up with some of you.
