I have an E92 6-speed base model at 47000 miles. For the last few months, the car will occasionally stall itself when I stop (usually at red light stop). At all time the car is in neutral with just foot on brake. It will just stall by itself. No start-stop engage (off at default for M3).

It happened to me a few times for the last few months (like once a month or couple months). Some other instances it will just drop in rev but regain idle without stalling. Anyone experience that in their 6-speed E9x? It is out of warranty.

BTW, no check engine light or anything, just stall and restart right away.
I would scan the car if you can just to see if there are any codes you aren't aware of, but otherwise, sounds like a vacuum issue. Perhaps related to the brakes or other system.
Probably fuel breather or a brake booster leak

Does it happen just after filling with gas?

DIY: Replace Fuel Tank Breather Valve (Fix for bouncing idle at fuel station) https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1273927
It happened at random, not particularly after fill-up! I will look into that fuel tank breather value fix.

Scan from BMW tech (for emission related repair beyond bumper to bumper warranty revel no hidden code.

When you press the brakes does the RPMs dip or stall? If not replace the fuel breather it’s only $80
Similar symptoms as you with irregular occurrences. Did a smoke test and found it to be the fuel tank breather valve.
Had the exact same issues. As everyone has said, it's most probably your fuel tank brother valve. worked for me.
Thank you all, will replace it and see what happen :)

Sorry for the OT question, but is that something you've coded or a US market thing?

Here in Aus, mine definitely defaults to on when restarting the car.

I think this is default US setting to be off. It was like that since day one for me.

After replacing the Fuel Tank Breather Valve for a month and a half, not a single stall happen with multiple fill-ups of gas. I hope that resolve the stalling problem.
