SSII is a gorgeous colour and as others have indicated, the second best choice IMHO for a M3. Yes to looking differently in different lighting conditions...yes to some seeing as a "chicks car"...but it's rare and unique and if want something different, you can't go wrong with SSII.

Love my SSII...
In my opinion it's the nicest color on the M3. The color brings out all the great lines and curves😉
Great choice!
Great choice!
Thanks for the comments and pics guys! I definitely like the idea of a more rare color and ease of maintenance is a big plus. I'd rather spend more time driving versus cleaning. LOL
There is a 2006 m5 in silverstone that I will checkout locally to get an idea of the color.

Take a look at this album:

I have pictures with sunny and cloudy sky's. Also at night.
I did play with white balance, but it gets you a idea of how the color blends with lights.
Its also hide a lot of swirls compared to darker colors like op said.

It's a sick color. Looks slightly light blue.
Beautiful cars, my dudes. IMO, carbon fiber add ons complement SSII very well.
As far as exterior mods, I would do black chrome grilles/gills, painted reflectors, OE CF front splitters, OE CF trunk lip, and possibly CF diffuser and be done with it. With ZCP wheels, it'd be just about perfect.

Tracyis300 wroteCorrecting you. Also correct me if I'm wrong? SSII is the least of manufacturer colors maid for the E90 M3.
It's actually the 2nd most common color for pre-LCI E90s (483 cars in SSII, Jerez Black most popular for pre-LCI at 690 cars). For LCI E90s, it's the 5th most popular color (this data is for BMWNA cars only, not worldwide). Overall for 2008-2011 E90 production SSII is the 3rd most popular color (867 cars). Most popular is Jerez Black (1393) and Alpine White (1220).
Black grills definitely complement SSII. I have clear side reflectors instead of painted.
Can't go wrong with SS. I like the low maintenance aspect as well.
ZombieM3 wroteI wouldn't really classify Silverstone as overtly sporty, whereas I would label bright reds and yellows sporty. It's a nice color, basically a silver-blue. It's still used on certain BMWs so just go visit your local dealer and walk the lot until you find one. Ultimately, you are the one who has to like it, so who cares what others think?Hey fellas.
I found a clean 2011 e90 m3 with zcp and 6mt in silverstone. It looks to be a nice car but I have never seen silverstone in real life. How does it look on an m3? Is it sporty looking? My preference was for a white or gray, but finding a clean nonstories 2011 zcp 6mt is a challenge.
I've seen the numerous online pictures but they seem to be in multiple shades. Hard to determine what it really looks like. This car is way too far for me to just stop by and look at it on the weekend.
Opinions? thanks!
Dislike silver cars but the E9X M3 Silverstone looks great every time I see one

Out here in L.A. Your more than likely to see one in AW than any other color? And that goes for the other M cars as well
Lots to see here as well...
