The e92 has been criticized by some enthusiasts as too heavy and there is a lot of talk that the new M4 will be lighter. Does any data exist on total car weight with a plus or minus weight list by options? I've heard that the 6MT is 45 lbs lighter than the DCT and the MPE is 25 lbs lighter than the stock exhaust but not sure if that is true. What about Premium Pack with Nav and electric motors to fold the mirrors or cold weather pack or PDC? Sunroof vs CF or ZCP vs non-ZCP? Probably not much of a difference overall but still curious to see the stats if they exist from BMW or elsewhere.

^ that's a great thread. There are ways to bring down the the weight in a few reasonable mods while keeping the car relatively civil. The car is heavy as h3ll though.
CF roof is 15 lbs lighter than regular roof (applicable for E90s), 45 lighter than moonroof roof.
ZCP is actually slightly heavier than 220 wheels. Can't find data on EDC weights (I'm guessing about 100lbs) or leather vs extended vs fabric. Navigation, I'm guessing weighs in around 30lbs-50lbs or so. A significant part of the weight is in the interior liner and sound deadening material. Also the newer manual seats might cut about 20lbs vs the older all-electric seats.
Basically a fully loaded E92 with a CF roof, you're looking at around 3700 lbs.

True, it gets a lot of heat for being too heavy and is not ideal, however relative to other Front Engine/Rear Drive layouts, BMW did a pretty good job. Compared to sports cars of course it will be heavier but is also designed to carry heavier loads (4 passengers) and sedan can carry even heavier loads vs the coupe. Will be interesting to see in the new gen how much weight they'll be able to shave off practically speaking, after most options are put on the car. From looking at parts diagrams with weight stats, even the headlight washing system adds like 3 lbs. Ultimately if you want the lightest platform, best to get a true sports car.
Great stats and data. This topic has been discussed on other threads before, but i couldn't find a simple answer to the question: given a pretty heavy car already at around 3600 lbs how big is the range from base to fully loaded? Is it 300lbs plus or just 100lbs? Where the new M4 falls in that range will be interesting and if it is only a small amount lighter will BMW overhype that fact.
Lightweight 18" wheels/tires, BBK, titanium exhaust, race front seats, rear seat delete, battery and driver diet are the best bang-for-your-buck weight savings mods. I'm likely going this route in time.
