R&T had pretty much the identical times and speeds from a 2008 6MT.

I have also seen speeds as low as about 110 mph in magazine tests.
Push the M button and you go faster!!!

kidding folks!
The Motorweek did that 0 to 60 in a 2008 M3 sedan 6MT in 4.1 sec.
I'm guessing this has been discussed before elsewhere, but is there an agreed-upon ideal way (along w exact M settings) to get the best launch from an E9x manual M3?
The times are there for 6MT..its ALL on the driver to make those times..that is the beauty of 6MT..no room for screw ups.. :)
Nice numbers. 1/4 mile is better than I've seen it before by .5 secs.

I hear that! But I have to agree that I hear "DCT is the best, it's the fastest transmission, the car is faster with DCT" A LOT on this forum. So I can understand why some people think tests would show that.

The DCT certainly shifts faster..but comparing the two isnt always fair, there are transmission gearing differences and rear end gearing differences..so those factor in..All I can say is I love having this car in a 6MT..nonstop :D:D:D
Road & Track had 4.1s & 12.5s at 114.8 mph for the MT Coupe. Launch & Acceleration notes: "With MDrive, we can disable stability and select ultimate sport mode with 1 button. Rev to 3900 mph and quickly release the clutch while rolling into the throttle. Shifting at redline requires only light lever pressure"
C&D has 4.0 for a 6MT M3, didn't they?

6MT should be slightly faster or at least equal to 60 as DCT. The shift time from 1-2 is negligible.
I could care less about 0-60, 1/4 mile times. Same driver, around a road course, the DCT will always be faster.

That is the sole reason I got the DCT. My track-prepped E36 M3 is manual, and I enjoy rev-matching downshifts as much as the next guy. I simply wanted to go as fast as I could in the E92, and that's with the DCT of course.

0-60 no. It is extremely easy to launch the 6MT consistently at low RPMs thanks to MDM which is brilliant. 1-2 is the easiest and quickest shift at redline.

Everything else yes, agree.
was kind of wondering when the DCT guys would jump in...I think the point of the post is to say "isn't the DCT supposed to be faster in everything, as claimed by SO many"? I guess not.

Discuss.

Yeah, C&D had E90 6sp-MT 0-60 4.1 1/4 12.6 @ 113.0 mph back in 07/08

Is the C63 really that fast?
I mean 3.7s 0-60 is pretty damn fast.

The 12.7 quarter-mile above is .5 quicker than what you've seen? I've never seen a E90 or E92 in the 13's. Are you launching in 3rd gear or something?

Ghetto + Jersey Shore, you certainly don't disappoint. Why be a sarcastic a-hole w/ that comment? Makes no sense. Maybe he's misquoting and not seeing the numbers right, so what.

 And this is coming from a fellow NJ member? Not to be a pretentious prick, but research or visit my town (07760) and you'll quickly realize that my username is an inside joke. Not a reference to where I live. In fact, the total opposite of the spectrum and to be honest, quite embarrased about the "Jersey Shore" show. So don't judge me by my username, Chief.

You've posted 500+ times and you've JUST experienced that sarcasm is evident on the message boards? Relax, keyboard warrior. It was a joke. An attempt at humor. A jest. Witticism...

Now back on topic

EDIT: Not that it matters to me, but I do find it quite humorous that you decided to rate my M3 in my garage a 1 in retaliation. You truly are a keyboard warrior lol
