Service Engine Soon Question

I just got a Service Engine Soon Light on my e92 M3 and I do NOT have an idrive so it doesnt go into much detail...
My car is catless but I fixed that with the Akrapovic Delete-R and I havent had the light since I installed it a year ago. Could that have gone bad or do I just need a regular service from the dealer
Ill scan the codes first thing in the morning to see what I come up with...any input would be great thanks guys

It says increased emissions and gives no other detail.. So it could be anything from the gas cap to the o2 sensors.

If the delete-R has worked for a year, it's quite likely something else is at fault for the light, such as an issue with the o2 sensors, map sensor, fuel mixture or ignition issue, etc.. Best thing to do is try and scan with a BMW specific scanner as it will give you more info than the generic OBD-II scan tools.

I scanned it with a generic tool I didn't know where to get a BMW specific one. Hope the code I got helps a little tho

your O2 sensors are shot !
I'd take it to the dealer and let them figure it out cause if you paying out of pocket its going to be expensive .Good Luck !

Nope still under warranty I'll let them mess with it! Just hope it doesn't have anything to do with going catless

Be prepared to pay out of your pocket at the dealer for this if it's O2 sensors.

Figured. Is it harming the car by having no cats?

My SES light came on recently and I discovered that one of the wires on my delete-r had come loose from the OBD port. Mine was the older version where you had to physically wire it into the OBD port. I did it the ghetto way and just shoved the wires into the pins on the back side of the port and zip tied them to the wire bundle. I guess when I get a pin removal tool I'll push the pin out and wire them together properly. I don't know if any of this will help you in your case.

My SES light just came on about 50 miles after taking it to the dealer. I told them to update the DCT Software only, but since the SES light came on with "Increased Emissions" I'm assuming they updated the ECU software as well and cleared my catless tune.

It is not possible for the dealer to "selectively update" modules. If there are updates available for more than one - they must flash program all of the ones that need updates and then the system will code every single module in the car.

I can perform the DCT update without updating the DME, but unfortunately the dealer systems do not allow this.

Ah good to know. Thanks for the feedback!! Least I know now its because they updated the ECU and washed out my tune (blower is going on next week with a different tune), and it wasnt an O2 sensor or something of the sort. Thanks!
