I wonder if she had the FOB in her pocket and the car was still running when the thief jumped in. If so, as soon as he turns it off he wont be able to turn it back on again lol.

Why do Mercedes drivers try to steal bmws?

Same story happened to my mother 3 years ago. A Mercedes rear ended her 2008 1 week old BMW x5 and while she got out to check the "accident", the mercedes driver pushed her hard to the ground and jumped into the x5 and went away. Car was returned by police a few days later in a terrible condition and the thief was shot and killed a few months later as he was shooting at the police. Police then found our x5 key at the thief's apartment and called us to pick it up. We said keep it because x5 was sold due to 15000$ in damages and there was no insurance.

Except if it was DCT, in the 2 minutes of lag before take off the police would have probably intercepted him.

This was actually my friend, it was very scary for her as she was held up at gunpoint. I think they found the car this morning though in newark with wires cut and the plates stolen.

Man that really sucks. Good thing she wasn't harmed in anyway. Hope they catch these fuc*ers. And its suprising they knew how to drive manual, you hear a lot of stories about thieves who try to steal a car only to find it was a manual and didn't know how to drive it.

NJ isn't the only place where they carjack fellas. Try any major American city for size especially once close to shipping ports-most of these cars get carjacked and then shipped overseas to eastern european/african and east asian countries where brand new cars are ridiculously expensive.

I'm sorry to hear about it. Glad that she's safe. The car can always be replaced.

Regardless if she kept the keys, all they'll find is the chassis stripped. I try my damn hardest to stay away from sketchy places if I have no reason to be there.
