'11 Clutch even lighter?
Well, I hadn't thought of it much during European delivery until I grabbed the keys to my '07 335i and was shocked how much stiffer the clutch was in the 335i.
I understand there were spring differences between '08s and '09s but has BMW further softened the clutch with the '11s?

You can not compare a regular 3 series to the M3 clutch. I have a 2008 M3 which is supposed to be the heaviest of the model years, but when I upgraded from my 2006 325I, the M3 clutch felt way lighter then the 325. The 325 felt like it was on a stiff spring where the M3 has more of a hydraulic feel...If that makes any sense.

Clutches are actually funny that way. As a clutch ages the springs in the pressure plate usually become stiffer to push....... although this is not always true 90% of the time it is.
If you have ever changed out an OEM Clutch with one of the same you would know what I mean! The clutch in your M3 will stiffen with time but it will happen so slowly and gradually you won't notice it happening until you either A: change it or B: drive a brand new M3. |
