Tire make on 2011s?

Sorry, did a quick search and found nothing. Simple question: What OEM tires does the 2011 E90 come with (19 inch wheels)?

Odds are Continentals.

Contis

My e92 ED ZCP I picked up on 4/15 had Contis. They seem ok, but can't directly compare

I think you can request the Contis or PS2s.

It will be either Contis or PS2s...no way to tell which. Lately it seems like there have been more Contis than PS2s, although the PS2 is definitely not gone for good because some are obviously still getting them.

My car (a late 2009 production) came with the Contis but I had the dealer switch the wheels & tires with one of their inventory cars that had the PS2s. I think most here will agree that the PS2 is the better tire.

I guess all dealers are different, but when ordering mine i told them to make sure the car came with PS2s, that i wouldn't take deliver with Contis.

Got PS2s.

There is no way to specify. Tires have always been a "luck of the draw" type thing.

Regarding your demanding PS2s, your dealer probably just got lucky on that and also probably had a backup plan (like switching with another M3) had yours happened to arrive with Contis.

Why do you feel Contis << PS2? Do others feel that there is THAT significant a difference in performance and wear? I mean, to the point that you would actually refuse the car?!?

I had Contis standard on my E46 (the older ContiSportContact 2, but still a similar tire). They were OK but got noisy as hell as they aged. The PS2, on the other hand, is pretty much the best all around performance tire that there is for daily driving in a car like the M3. Great dry grip, good wet grip, compliant ride (soft sidewalls), quiet, relatively good wear, etc. Conti just isn't as good, period.

Good to know. Guess I'll be hoping for the PS2s...

You should be.

Let's put it this way: when I saw that my M3 had the Contis on it, I immediately requested that the dealer swap them with an inventory M3 with PS2s. I had already negotiated an awesome deal, so they wouldn't do it for free. I didn't hesitate to pay $120 in labor for them to make the swap. I wanted the PS2s that badly.

I forgot to mention that I replaced the OEM (runflat) Bridgestones on my old E90 330i with non-runflat PS2s and loved them, so that's another reason that I already knew how great the PS2s are.

PS2s are definitely more common. I never said the distribution was even...I just said that you don't know what to expect. In late '09 there seemed to be a lot of cars arriving with Contis for whatever reason, but now it seems to be back to mostly Michelins.

Whether it's Contis or PS2s, I plan on enjoying the hell out my new M once it gets here in about a week...

I believe the PS2 is being phased out to be replaced by the PS3.
A road test I read of the new M3 on Continentals praised the tyres as giving a better drive than the PS2s so don't be too disappointed if you get them...they are in any case a different tyre to the CCSC2s that were OEM on the E46 M3 so any shortcomings that tyre may or may not have had are pretty much irrelevant.
I have PS2s on my car and I am quite happy with them...I would have been just as happy with the new Contis if thats what had been fitted.
