BMW CCA August 23 Bowie MD Drive and Event

Hey Everyone, mdrobc13 reminded me of this great event happening in our area. Let's see if we can get everyone on board for this. I also want to plan a central meeting point for any VA, and MD member so we can drive together to the event. So let me know, I think the La Madeleine on Rockville Pike is a good location but I am up for any suggestions.

Plan to attend our 2008 ChapterFest! Both member and non-members are invited to attend. Scheduled activities include:

* Food catered by Red, Hot & Blue. Beverages will also be provided.
* ChapterFest T-Shirts for everyone who registers and pays online.
* Autocross, including a special vintage class to highlight the cars of our past.
* Show & Shine with special relaxed judging rules. Awards will be given.
* Tours from various locations rallying to ChapterFest. Details to be announced soon.
* Swap meet to give new life to unused bimmer items.

Registration is open NOW!!!

There are three different registration options:

2008 ChapterFest - Autocross Registration --> For those participating in the Autocross.
2008 ChapterFest - Show & Shine Registration --> For those participating in the Show & Shine.
2008 ChapterFest - General Registration --> All others.

Show & Shine Information:

Schedule:

8:00AM - 10:00AM: Show & Shine Participants Check-In
10:30AM - 12:00PM: People's Choice Judging
12:30PM - 1:00PM: Show & Shine Awards Presented

All judging will be people's choice! Ballots will be given to all attendees upon arrival.

A winner will be chosen for the following categories:

Vintage car (1983 and older) I most want to drive.
Vintage car (1983 and older) with most character.
Vintage car (1983 and older) with most passionate owner.
Current car (1984 and newer) I most want to drive.
Current car (1984 and newer) with most character.

I live about 2-3 miles from the Baysox stadium so I'll meet you guys there! Although a run on the Beltway from LaMadeline's and up Rt 50 to Bowie would be interesting for a couple of M3's! I do have a passport Solo that I swap between vehicles! LOL

Butch, I got a question. Why are we going there so early when 8-10 is show and shine registration and the judging doesn't start till 10:30? "NOT A SERMON, JUST A THOUGHT"

Claudio you have a good point but I definitely want to get there before it gets to crowded so we can get some good spots so let's say meet in Rockville at 9 and leave by 9:15?

Here is more information that I received via email, hope to see you all tomorrow. So far I am meeting up Claudio at La Madeleine in Rockville at 8:45, if anymore want to come let me know asap because if it is just him we are leaving right away.

The anticipation is almost over ... ChapterFest 2008 is Tomorrow!!! The weather is going to be fantastic and we are going to have ton of people in attendance.

Now, what should you bring to ChapterFest? Since ChapterFest is an outdoor event, it is suggested that you bring anything necessary for your comfort! For starters, bring a chair and sunscreen. If you want to put some items out for sale, it's suggested you bring a table, or whatever is necessary, to display.

So you haven't registered? Your dog ate the computer? (... likely excuse) No worries! Walk-up registration will be permitted. We're not positive we will have enough shirts for all walk-up registrations, so, first come, first serve. There still are many Autocross spots available and we should be able to fit a few into the Show & Shine.

We've taken a lot of time organizing ChapterFest, and now we're asking for a bit of help. We need several volunteers to help with working the registration gate. Please email me if you are willing to help out. To top it off, if you're autocrossing, this will count for your worker assignment (no cone shagging)!

Hey, since it seems that Butch and I are the only one's meeting up for the drive, we are changing things up. Since we live 5 min apart, we are going to meet in Aspen Hill. If anyone was planning on meeting up with us, PM me or Butch or post. We will then change our plans to meet up with you. Otherwise, see you guys at the meet.
P.S. we plan on meeting at 7:30, so we can get the parking we want at the meet.

Nice meeting you too! Thanks for the loan of Quick Detail..too bad none of us won but with that z8 and the uber-modded M3 (that won too right?) we didn't have a chance! LOL

This was a great event and it was very nice to meet some new people and chill with some old friends. Robert loved to listen to your experiences and have a safe tour in Afghanistan and we'll see you again very soon! Claudio once again you are the man, we'll be getting together soon if not for an event but just a drive or drinks whatever. Drew sorry I wasn't able to watch your run but hope you posted a fast time, hopefully I'll join you on the course at the next event.
