You may want to go to a custom fabrication shop and have them build something for you. If you go that route, you can also have them hide everything behind the bumper, and then use a U shaped bracket to go down and around the bumper when you're ready to put the hitch on. A friend of mine had something like that done to his '95 M3, and it looked perfectly stock when not in tow. (Wow, I can't believe that was over 10 years ago.) What are you towing? You don't want to damage the rear springs, or entire suspension, if you're pulling too much weight at an improper angle. A jet ski will probably be no problem, but I wouldn't put a car, boat, or camper on the back. Having the power to pull something doesn't mean the car can handle it.

Line from Road Trip:
"I said the car would make the jump, and it did. I didn't say the wheels wouldn't fall off."

Sweet, my thread got a mention in another thread...

I have not been able to find any hitches already made, but apparently it is common in Germany, so I enlisted the help of a friend of mine IN Germany. I am hoping he comes up with something.

and will be towing a shifter kart on a little aluminum trailer long distances....

both should be a easy task for the M.....

i have no idea why i said "a hidden one behind the tag" lol... my budy has that on his cayman.. and we pulled a 800 pound trailer across country.... but didnt even think about the teg being on the trunk......

i saw the pic of the U shaped one.... i guess i could go for a aftermarket exhuast that doesn't have a big center section.... and make that happen....

Yup. My friend with the '95 M3 used to tow a jet ski. (Until our other friend crashed his brand new one into something. Not sure if it was a reef, a rock, or something that sunk. His jet ski sunk right beside it.)

i cant remember the name of the company or exact location, but i know it's somewhere down east...
a company that specializes in designing and fitting hitches and tow bars to all kind of vehicles... and hardcore towers drive thousands of miles across the country to get their hitch fitted there, so they must be good...

Anyone ever install one? Execuhitch shows 733 on their website, but no photos of the thing or installation instructions, so I really wonder how hard it is to wedge it in.

Here is how the Execuhitch (Invisihitch) looks.

Going to resurrect this thread. I live a few miles away from Invisihitch (used to be called Execuhitch). Hitch racks are super convenient, so this is the way I wanted to go. $650 and when the hitch is off you can't tell a thing. The stock bumper is removed and a piece of heavy duty steel replaces it. It would probably hold up better to a minor fender bender, but only if it is in the middle. Only downside is that there is no bumper insert under the corners any longer. Best part is that I can put the bumper back in and return it to stock when it's time to sell the car. A hitch assembly inserts into that opening you see under the car. This setup is only for a bike rack, it's not wired for lights and doesn't have a place to hook up chains. It is absolutely rock solid, not a bit of play in it. For those that say I should buy a cheap truck to haul my bike around, the best roads in GA are on the way to where I ride. It's ridiculous to buy another car to carry a 27 pound mountain bike around. In fact, I called Invisihitch before I bought the car to make sure I could put a hitch on it. I would not have bought an M3 otherwise. Trunk racks scratch your car and aren't secure. Roof racks scratch your car and lead to broken mountain bikes at the Taco Bell drive through. I can have the hitch on and bike loaded in about 60 seconds.

Sorry, I missed this when you replied. $650 and you can do a 1.25 or 2.0 on the same mount. I did the 1.25.

Makes me happy I have a 2012 Dodge Durango with a trailer package as a DD! I personally would just buy a cheap S10 or something rather than try and get a hitch set-up for an M3. Then again, that's just me...

I'm aware that execuhitch makes the hitch. I was wondering what kind of bike rack was used in the pictures above by tadmcmichael.

Hey guys! Now to resurrect this thread... I am considering an E93 to put our 1Up bike rack on the back, and StealthHitches only shows the E92/E90 with installed hitches. Does anyone know if the E93 is the same or similar to the E92 in regards to the Stealth Hitch compatibility?

We are about to pull the trigger on an E93 purchase, pending this info... Haha!

Also, wondering if the tongue weight would be Ok with the 3rd & 4th tray addon that we have for the kiddos MTBs?

TIA!

Times have changed, hitch and a brand new steel bumper for $650. You'll be lucky to get a painted bumper for that price.
