Signup To Test Drive an M3

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...n/Default.aspx

Go to this Link, Select Registration, Enter your Zip Code, Select a dealer near you, Signup for a Test Drive on the designated Date. It's for the BMW Ultimate Drive event, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and it is making it's way across the U.S. from East to West

I signed up this morning for a ~1 hour test drive in an M3, then later in an X5. Unfortunately my local dealers are selling the M3s as fast as they arrive, so this will be my oportunity to play for ~1 hour.

Crap, it says "Registration for your area is not avialable until 5/13/08." So I guess I need to put a reminder in my calendar for it......

I get back from vacation on 6/18/08, so I hope I'm recovered enough by 6/21 (date of local event.)

Yeah, my signup date was today. I recommend if you want to test drive the M3 that you signup very, very early (maybe 12:05am or something) on 5/13/08. When I signed up this morning at ~6am there were only 4 reservations slots left for an M3 test drive at my dealer. Later in the day there were none and none at another dealer in town.

I just did that drive for the cure thing today at my local dealer. The M3 is a beast. I didnt pre register but it only took about an hour or two for my turn to come up in line for the m3. Im sure you will be driving the same M3 i did since they travel around. Its a white coupe with carbon fiber roof, loaded with black leather. It is very fun to get to flog a new M3 for a while haha.

My local dealer doesnt allow test drive on their demo car, they claim they need to keep the mileage low and try to sell the car.

Thanks for the advice. I'm usually up pretty late, so I put a reminder in Outlook the night before to register.

That is, if I can withstand the urge to just get one......

Anyone want to buy an '07 E90 335i (no mods except ceramic tint) with 8,000 miles for $41k?

As I understand it, they are not (or at least the M3s) dealer demo cars, but test drive cars supplied by BMWNA for this special event. I believe BMW does something similar every year.

Just curious: Did it already have over 1,200 miles on it? [just past breakin]

This is correct. Actually there are two fleets of them that cross the country.

everyone is right, is not the dealer cars it is a special group of cars that travel around and do this event. They have 4 1 series, 4 3 series, 3 6 series, 2 5 series, one of them a wagon. and a manual M3 and alpina B7. Also have 4 z4's one of them is manual also. And the M3 already had 11 thousand on it. most of the cars besides the 1's had about that much.

Well then it is broken-in and ready for romping
BTW, do they let you take it out by yourself or do they have a BMW rep ride shotgun?

All by yourself, they dont even tell you rules or anything. You just sign your name on a sheet of paper and hop in. The people running it were very laid back and nice. They give you a specified route to take but a lot of the guys that were there did not follow it and the M3 was gone for about 45 minutes one time and they didnt really seem to care... and yes it is more than ready for romping haha. I certainly tried my best to warm up the tires for you guys

Yeah I drove it a couple weeks ago. It's not chaperoned or anything. I don't think it ever has. Other than the Hydrogen 7 last year, a BMW rep would ride with you and tell you about it and how it would switch between H and gasoline. Pretty cool.

Our Drive for the Cure was the 31st. Luckily for us, our route includes a 2 mile straightaway with no turnoffs that runs along a field. You better believe that the M3 and the Alpina have hit the rev limiters more than once. And not just by me either.

They're street legal rocket ships.

Hmmm...I dont even know where to start on this.....I tried to sign up and couldnt since I was underage....it seems like you gotta be 30 to drive an M3...so I emailed my CA and he said "he will do everything he can to get me a drive" not having heard from him since I signed up for to drive a 645 and a Z4...major bummer...like my old thread
