Just did my 2nd track day at Thunderhill 5 mile with my E92 M3
Went with Hooked on Driving yesterday and had a blast. Had a couple near misses - went into a drift in one of those turns with Euro MDM on which was fun but certainly not intended - was definitely a change from normal MDM, and almost ran out of road on the off-camber turn earlier during the day.
Car has 96900 miles now and had no issues the entire day - completely flawless and absolutely confidence inspiring. Beautiful weather of 88 degrees, oil temp stayed no higher than 3/4 of the way over, and didn't have any brake fade with Motul 600 and PFC 08 pads (then again I know I wasn't good enough to get there, even though the instructor seemed impressed by the brakes). In comparison, one of my friends who drives a 370z had his clutch fluid boil away at the end of the day and had to come back in (we looked up and apparently the line goes by the exhaust pipe so it has a tendency to boil). My car has a couple of new mods since my last track day at Laguna Seca - Akrapovic Evolution exhaust + Stage II BPM tune + DCT tune + Servotronic tune. Was a lot of fun learning this track and by the end of the day my instructor thought I was ready to solo it, so here are some of those laps. My best timed lap was 4:13.12 (not shown - it was my last lap). This was pretty tough to learn because of all the turns and there are still some spots where I didn't do a great job of it. Here are some of my solo laps: Some lovely action photos taken by Dito Milian/www.gotbluemilk.com ![]() ![]() ![]() |
