Arrow Those with a Tune - Did you opt for "Reduce Cold Start Rev Limit (4500 rpm)?

I had that option for the Stage 1 tune and I know it is good to have but it would take forever for the rpm's to open up to 8k and I would already reach work by that time Am upgrading to Stage 2 and wondering if I should opt out or keep it and retain the stock setting.

Thoughts?

Had this done with the latest iteration of my BPM tune and I really had to get used to it..ie was suprised on how I was hitting the limiter more often than before on cold starts esp when getting on freeway onramps. Limiting the revs on your own is a lot easier said than done, IMO, so glad that its there to instill forced "discipline".

Yes, I have it on mine. I've also actually hit the limited by mistake a few times.

But I also don't have a warranty so I don't care if it's completely obvious that I have a tune.

I just got my BMP Stage II tune and selected the cold start Rev limit...I figured I would never rev past 4,500 rpm's when it's cold anyways, so selecting this option would ensure if I ever let a friend borrow the car, they wouldn't have that option either. FWIW my car heats up fairly quickly and redline is moving up past 5,000 within a few miles.

I got it on mine as well. My car gets to 165 fast so its a non issue. Would not want to take it near redline anyways without everything warmed up a bit. The feature saves you from yourself.

I opted for it as well. Haven't hit the limiter as of yet though.

Figured it was a decent way to ensure I dont over rev a cold motor

I opted for it as well, it keeps me smart when the car is cold.

FYI OP it won't take any longer than it normally would for full redline to be available.

A tidbit of discipline can go a long way. Chances are if you bought one of these cars, that 'discipline' feature is fubar'd.

Out of curiosity, does this option actually move the redline further down the gauge or does the redline still start in its normal position when it's cold?

It starts at 4500 and stays there a lot longer.

Have mine set at 3500. I love it. Goes to 4500 once it warms a bit than holds until fully warm.

It won't display red below 4,500 as that's the furthest down the cluster allows, but it can be limited to 3,500.

Mike hooked me up with this. Great feature. Even though it shows redline at 4500 you are limited to 3500 until it warms a bit. Best part is that the redline will NOT increase and will release full revs only when fully warm. Standing rev limit is great as well. This is what allows launch control for us 6MT guys.
