Why everyone feels the 6MT as notchy?
I have read repeatedly in this forum that M3 owners complain that the 6MT is notchy. Could someone please describe what is the meaning of notchy. Sorry for asking again. In my particular case, sometimes when I engage 3rd from 2nd I feel a slight bite before engaging the gear fully. Is that notchiness?

i dont understand what "bite" is when we talk trannies hehe
i guess it is just a bit less forgiving so it needs more gas or more clutch to give you a smooth gear change? |

i used to disengage the clutch at my porsche at about 1.1k revs ( smooth start if you use your left food correct), is this also possible at the m3? how about starting in the 2nd gear, improves this the comfort or is it just a stupid idea? ( my current car has a 5gear automatic and starts in 2nd gear if you dont knock down the pedal full) |

To describe the "bite" it is an unexpected resistance before engaging the gear fully. It is variable in ocurrence. Not always present.

Mantis seems to talk about a "biting" clutch, which can't be said about the M3's IMO. Best regards, south

Pancho was clearly talking about the shifter and you related it to the clutch. I'm just saying that's wrong and Hammer's response shows how you confused him. Maybe I should have said: "Don't be confused by mantis' wrong assumption." By any chance thin-skinned today? Best regards, south

OK, that was a good one.
I just realized you're having a hard time on the chat thread. That explains your mood. Best regards, south

I drove the E92 and did not think it was notchy at all. If you want notchy, try a GT3! I think those that felt it was notchy prolly like the butter soft clutch as well. lol

I havn't driven the M-DKT, but yes, the MT6 is a bit notchy and I would probably prefer the M-DKT when it comes down to it. Its fun to shift though is is certainly more challenging!!!
