Not really bragging "I smell like poop"(???)....i'm more so responding to the people that told me not to pass judgement on the car until driving it.

i totally agree with your first statement, and hence would take the M3 over the C63 AMG without much hesitation. however, i disagree that no one can get the formula right like BMW. Porsche's 911 has generally been outhandling and outperforming BMW's "Ultimate Driving Machine(s)" for years now, and they've been doing it "with elegance."

You are a bit self contradicting. First you say that cars either will or will-not have that "it" factor when you sit in them. Which would yeild to an understanding that you have a very faith, emotion, or feeling based sense for if you like cars or not. Then you say In research I trust at the end... I didn't know you could research an emotional responce to something.

While I don't disagree with your conclusion in the OP, I do disagree with your means of obtaining it. It would seem you are smitten with the M3(which isn't a bad thing). But your comments and perspective are very reminiscent of rationalization, which by nature is self conflicting and defies normal logic. The rationalization I see projected in your posts is clogging your judgement and you have developed quite a nice bias to the whole situation. Perhaps becoming an M3 partisan even.

I would encourage you to take a step back, and return to this thread in a few days after your emotions and thoughts have settled.

I bought BMWs all my life. I tested the C63 yesterday. PLEASE save me the grief. It is 100 times better in real life than the M3. What the hell, I couldn't even get the M3 to take off decently at the stop light. It chocked a bit and then took off.

BMW is synonymous to Apple . Only idiots are happy to get the M3 in Canada. I am sure many of you did. The same happened to idiots waiting for the iphone all night. BMW is screwing Canadians, ask yourself, why would the nice balance of the M3 cost the same as the shear power of the C63 in the USA. And the nice balance of the M3 of the M3 cost $14000 more than the brute force of the C63 in Canada.

Cheers,

George

Kleeman came out with headers/chip tuning for the C63's and it is about 100+ hp.....

These C63's are detuned from factory so with proper chip and headers, it becomes a monster!!! WOW!! Gotta respect that much power!

I like the C63 and don't think the M3 is a hands down better choice. I own one and have tested and driven the C63 and some things I like better on the 63.

Equivalently equipped the price is not 14k better for the C63. With premium, nav and the perfomance pack (you aren't going to be driving a 450 bhp car without an lsd are you?) The C63 is 76,400 CAD and the M3 sedan is 82,050.

The AMG is cheaper, but not nearly 14k. At that differential my choice will come down to which car I prefer overall. The M3 with EDC might be a better choice than the AMG with a fixed, very stiff PP suspension set up.

A comparable M3 will be alot more. Just comparable brakes for the M3 will cost a good $3000, decent seats another $2000, decent steering wheel maybe $1200, exhaust who knows, Sirius Radio $650.

I love BMW, geez I drive one now. But the way they price their cars in Canada is not fair.

I liked the interior a lot, probably because I'm tired of seeing the 3 series interior (it's like wanting to fuck a blonde girl when you're a dating a brunette). The downshift-blip was sick. I thought the hood creases were very classy and the exterior trim was elegant and executive looking to me. This looks like the better daily driver of the two cars. Plus, it has a 20 gallon fuel tank and gets up to 20mpg. Talk about range!

I don't see anyone at the track buying e92 M3's and making them into dedicated track cars. All of the rich guys buy 911's for the track. The M3 is so heavy, it's in daily driver territory. And that's where the C63 shines.
I'm very curious what you thought of the C63's suspension and ride. The suspension is not adjustable, and many have said that it is a little too harsh for DD status. I don't know what the roads are like where you did your test drive, but here in Houston, a little compliance goes a long way (i.e., the roads are absolute s***). I'm also curious as to whether the C63's handling is as confidence-inspiring at the limits. I would have liked to test drive one to see for myself, but they are pretty much unavailable.

I've always been a big fan of BMW's balance between compliance and road feel/handling, and the C63 doesn't come with a MT, so I ruled it out on paper. Hasty? Yes. Bad decision? Probably not, but I'll reserve judgment until I'm able to actually drive one.

EDIT: No arguments on that engine. I've seen how it's able to pull on the M3 in the straights, and the sound clips I've heard sound very, very nice.

Isn't that the whole point? I don't see the M3 standing out from the ordinary 3 series too much either. Well, it guess if you really want to know whether these //M, AMG, or RS variants stands out enough is to use the "drunk-chick-at-a-bar-trick".

I think what he is meaning is that he owns an M3 and has tested and driven a C63, I don't think he means he owns the Merc.
