Interior Illumination at night

Since I can't drive my car due to snow blocking half my garage all I can do is see it sitting there inside the garage.

I guess it's not all bad, at least I can get to familiarize myself with the creature comforts and technology in the car...

Last night I noticed the interior door panels have a lighted accent strip across the door panel. You can't really see it if you have a dark interior like I do and you will have to look at a low angle to see the actual strip.

Wondering if anyone else noticed this??

A pic below of what I mean.

Here's some more pics just for fun...

Oh, and why can't they use an image of your car (instead of a regular 3 Series) when it's on the PDC screen on the nav dispaly? That looks nothing like mine, color doesn't match, I have CF roof, and it's missing the buldge on the hood...see pic below.

Funny this came up I was down at Sebring this weekend for the SCCA Nationals and my brother and another bud were sitting in my car apparently screwing with everything inside. So on the way back one of them says are these lights always on and I'm like what the hell are you talking about and he pointed them out to me..... There everywhere above the back glass, in the door handles inside and maybe a few other spots, not sure if I just never noticed them or if they turned them on or found an intensity adjustment but how do you turn them off? Anybody?

The lighting is very subtle and quite elegant. Good observation.

Just be careful not to kill yourself running the engine in your closed garage!

Seeing lights

It's called "Ambience Lighting" and is standard on both coupe and sedan.
Edit: Original ordering guide had it listed as standard for the sedan, but per later post, it's only in coupe and cabrio.

Not sure, I'll have to play around with the dash lighting adjustments via the blinker stalk on the left of the steering wheel.

That was with my Canon EOS 7D and EF 50mm f/1.2L USM

I agree, it's unique.

As for the engine, it wasn't running. I have the car on a trickle charger since I can't drive it anywhere right now. Another big snow storm coming tomorrow night.

.
Nice lens.

I was thinking about doing the night shots of our 7. I am going to try with the the 7D, and EF 16-35 F/2.8L . What settings did you use ?

That lens is on my list of to buy, but before that I need to figure how to use this camera.

That lens is on my list of to buy, but before that I need to figure how to use this camera.
For that particular shot I was in manual mode, Tv 60, Av 1.8, ISO 3200. Probably not the best setting (I'm not a pro) but it did it's job ok. I chose to use f/1.8 to give it a slightly blurred artsy type look. I didn't go wide open at f/1.2 as that would have been way too blurred LOL. The focus point was in the middle of the strip that's why the other two ends look a little blurred.

The lens is very tricky to use, I wouldn't recommend it. The one you have is already awesome. You have a nice wide angle that I would love to have but I'm waiting for the successor to that lens before I buy. Hopefully with IS.

I normally use:
EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM for general use;
EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM for longer distance shots;
EF 50mm f/1.2L USM for those times when I want that blurred look (i.e. Bokeh effect).
