Question Is this it? E92 M3 BTG 7:05 Onboard on the Nordschleife? #GoLukeGo

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Is this it?

Did I hit the deadline of what's possible with a e92 M3 6speed manual
running on street legal tires with a stock engine?
Really looking forward to see when the F8x's will come close.
Up to now many nice builds are driving around but
none of the cars is really fast.

Done and recorded and data logged - BTG - Bridge to Gantry of 7:05min

On slicks as well as with a 4.4 or 4.6l stroker for sure even more is possible.
But as the BTG time is always a comparison for street legal cars
driving during Touristenfahrten or Trackdays we keep using it to have
comparable numbers.
For those who are interested:
BTG 7:05min is ~7:29min Full lap and ~7:25min Sport Auto Supertest Time

Enough blabla for now.
Set it to full HD - crank up the volume - get a beer - lay back and enjoy!

Bravo! Nice work! Also agree with you, they should some standards on what times mean. X car can go faster than Y car, but X car is fully prepped for the track. Numbers become meaningless in that regard. Anyways congrats again!

Very impressive driving. It's funny because I've logged hundreds of hours lapping the Nurburgring in my sim (Assetto Corsa) and while it's nowhere like actually being there, I know every corner like the back of my hand and almost every bump on the road so I can get a good sense of how well you are driving there. Hope to make it out there someday.

You are seriously a beast behind the wheel my friend. Thanks for sharing

It's hard to see, what type of data is your iPhone displaying? Also, what are your tire specs? (you mentioned street tires)

Although that is all we have for now, no doubt about it the sim will help should we see the day. In fact, what better way to practice a track layout that is not in your backyard? Hitting The Ring everyday would be quite expensive, but on a sim...

Pretty easy explanation. When we received the carbon doors I checked the parts system and saw how crazy the price is for a spare e92 M3 mirror.
And as I'm racing 8-10 times a year the chance of loosing a mirror because of touching another car is given we thought.
Let's just steal a set of e36 M3 mirrors on eBay for a friction of the price.
But to be honest: The idea of using e36 mirrors comes from the e92 M3 BMW GT4 where they use them, too.

Congrats...saw Team Schirmer break the 7:00 min BTG mark, but that was with 500+ bhp. Awesome driving and build! I think people really fail to realize that just with a few mods (even far short of yours) to bring the car up to 2015 standards the E90 platform can be lethal on the track. I see it all the time what upgrades wheels, breaks, tires, and suspension can do with no power mods. Wish the S65 II had been realized but we all know the constraints BMW and other Euro manufacturers are facing. No doubt the F80 is super quick, but in my experience in tracking with them, I think the sheer dimensions of it is hampering the car in tight turns vs the E90, at least in amateur hands.

The app I use is Harry's Laptimer.
Pretty amazing app. Car stats like temperatures, fuel level, ... is connected
via a PLX Kiwi device (ODB-WLAN)
And the GPS data comes from a 10Ghz XGPS 160 receiver (bluetooth)
which is way more accurate than build in GPS of iPhones (do have only 1GHz)

Tire specs: TrofeoR. Front 10x18 with 265/35-18, rear 11x18 with 295/30-18

I agree.

Lukester, your time is super impressive and it's been fun seeing your car evolve into more of a track rig as time has passed. I'm curious what you could pull out of a 100% bone stock 2013 M3 coupe with either transmission. Would you be up in the 8 minute range? I thought the official lap time for a stock E92 M3 was 8:10.

I'm trying to figure out if your car is quicker than a more powerful Schirmer build of if you're just that good of a driver.
