If by J you mean "japan" spec software, it's 240EEKJV0, and this shouldn't be used in US spec vehicles and may be a contributing factor to the issue you are experiencing.

I was on mobile which doesn't show signatures.
Yup, I meant the version of the software designed for the Japanese domestic market.

I've been hearing what sounds like engine knocking when quickly accelerating from a coast. That is, when I'm coasting at about 40MPH in 3rd and then stomp the gas pedal to speed up quickly, I hear a metallic "clink" sound come from the engine that lasts a fraction of a second. It sounds a lot like an engine knocking or pinging, but it's not sustained. It's there and it's gone as soon as you give it gas.

Does anyone know if that's an actual engine knock? If so, any ideas how to remedy it? If not, any ideas what it might be?
OP, did you find out the reason?

Nope. I'm at 70,000 miles and it stopped doing this about 25,000 miles ago.

Did you replace the spark plug or engine mount at that time?

The spark plugs may have been replaced as part of the car's annual maintenance, though I'm not sure -- would need to go back and look through its service history over the last 3-4 years. Engine mounts have never been touched.

Thanks for the info op. Some say changing spark plug may stop this knocking noise. So just want to see if it is your case

Did you ever figure out what was causing the clink? I am having the same noise and did the rod bearings and engine mounts about 7 months ago.
