I may leave in 6 months for a year in Afghanistan. Ultimate plans to be determined.

At least it is no longer 15 months at a time.....

Wow, OPSEC anyone??? Let's keep the destinations/travel times closer to the vest. No need to make ourselves a larger target than we already are.

Makes me think of an old Nicholson/movie quote/scene...

Believe me, I know that most of the newspapers are not helping us out. If you guys only knew about the stuff that doesn't make it into the papers it would make you want to smack someone. I'm not saying you can't be proud of deploying but throwing out timeframes and locations is bad form and we ALL know better.

Just trying to keep my brothers and sisters safe is all.

You get that information from the FT Hood Korean dry cleaners and CNN. No secret that we are beefing up Afghanistan and drawing down in Iraq.

Narrowing down time frames is an OPSEC violation. Saying you're leaving next month, next week, or whenever narrows down the time frame. The fact that no one sees this just confirms what we already know, 99% of people just click through the annual training and don't read their critical information lists.

But I'm done with this. I'm not going to change anyone's mind and you Gus dint seem to care so it's whatever.
