S65 vs. Ford Coyote
Just thought I'd take a minute to bring up the new Ford Coyote 5L V8. To me, this sounds like a very nice mill that will make for a fast cheap car. Not a BMW, but then it's not trying to be either. This should at least add more legitimacy to the 5L Mustangs in Grand-Am Koni though (even if they don't switch to the new engine).
I'm sure plenty of haters will chime in with their feelings, and that's fine too. I just wanted to post what I think is a cool picture of a pretty sweet new engine. Specs are very, very similar to the those of the V8 in the Lexus IS-F. So, for comparison's sake, about the same power as the S65, quite a bit more torque due to more displacement, but a much lower redline. |

Ford is really upping their game with the Coyote and TT V6. I like that they have not covered it up with a big piece of plastic and I like that it's a "new" NA V8. Nearly every other brand has truncated the development of NA V8s.

412 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. Im really loving the muscle car wars. Have a hard time picking between the Camaro and 5.0 Stang.

I may be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure that we're looking at a plastic engine cover/plenum, and not the actual engine itself in that picture.

Combined with Ford’s latest track pack, the 2011 Mustang GT reportedly lapped Michigan’s GingerMan Raceway dead-even with the current BMW M3 — despite a 200 pound weight disadvantage.

Wow I have to say I am hugely impressed with this.
I can't find where the peak numbers are produced for this motor. I suspect they will be down lower with the Ford, perfect for everyday driving.. While the Lexus IS-F has peak torque @ 5200.. Which is perfect for short-gearing/precision at the track. Does that sound about right? Now if Ford could concentrate on also making an equally-impressive interior, I would possibly lose my stigma regarding domestics for that! |

I am following this with great interest as Ford has developed a huge motorsport parts supply for the Mustang allready and there is also a huge aftermarket supply for other go fast stuff. You can build a very track capable out of this for not much money compared to playing with an M.
http://www.fordracingparts.com/2010-catalog/default.asp Ford is doing a lot of stuff quite right now. |

I'm really glad you mentioned the IS-F's torque peak RPM, most people miss that, well done. The Coyote will be far more motor down low oh.... and the interior is the best out of the domestics in its class IMO. |

man they have a car for sale for every racing category, all fully prepped and ready to race. i like the baja race truck
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...KeyField=11732 i have known about the raptor for some time now but didn't know a race version was made. i will be trading in my truck for the raptor next year but the street version. the one coming out this year has the weaker 5.4 engine but next year there coming out with a bigger more powerful engine with throttle mapping adjustment on the fly which gives it more power. i guess kinda like the power button in the M3 and M5/M6. i love my desiel and i got amazing power just from a tuner chip and other small changes but it is big and i don't really tow anymore since i just race for fun now we sold the prof race trailer so i just throw the bikes in the back of the truck and go to the races now. here is a pic of the one i will get next year with the bigger engine http://www.real-tuning.com/cars-news...t-raptor-5.jpg http://www.fordpic.com/Ford/2009/10/...-1920x1440.jpg i like the direction the company has taken and turned themselves around pretty good seeing they were pretty close to going under just like the rest of the american companies like GM that took bail out money etc. props to Ford for not having to and kudos to there CEO i think he is doing a great job. have seen some interviews with him i think he is def great for the company i know one thing i love NA engines and that is what has always drawn me to the M cars and why i have had 2 M3's and a M5 but if BMW doesn't make a NA engine anymore i will be going with a different brand next car i don't care how much hp/tq BMW gives it. i am not a fan of the mustang looks all that much but i like that engine and by then it may grow on me. or maybe i could afford a used R8 or something that is NA at least. i would love to have that R8 V10
