What's this Pshh sound? (Video)

Spent an hour searching. Found nothing. 10-15 seconds after shutting off car I hear this. Anyone know what it is? http://youtu.be/_GYdQ2sR1hI

I wouldn't hesitated to go get that looked at. It's clearly not normal?! Sounds like a pump releasing pressure or air escapeing for a hose??

That's just the turbos.

In all seriousness, can you tell us more about how often it happens? Is it every time you turn the car off? Does it only happen once? If it's easily reproducible try looking for it with the hood up. A 3-second video that captures a single occurrence is a little tough to go on.

Are you sure that's not just condensation from the AC falling onto hot parts and sizzling? That happens all the time when you turn the car off.

Need to say it sounds absolutly not normal !
I've 31K miles on it and I never heard such a sound ,sounds like a high air pressure escape sound .
Very strange indeed and would love to know the cause of this strange sound .
Will keep an eye on this thread....

Happens every time I turn the car off. Usually 10-20 seconds after. It's one pshh and that's it.

It's definitely not something dripping onto the exhaust. It's air escaping for sure.

Does it happen on cold starts or after it is warmed up?

Mechanic/owner from independent BMW shop just dropped by on his way home and I couldn't replicate it after a very short drive. So only warmed up fully and driven. He's convinced it's some emissions related control/valve but doesn't hsve a tone of E92 experience.

Listening to the video I see why some people say it's condensation on exhaust, but in person it sounds like a blow off valve. My wife even just said "it sounded like air not water" when I mentioned what people were saying on here (she heard it after shutting her door today).

I'll take it for a good drive later and be sure to be prepared get another video.

I initially though AC as well. OP, does it only happen once or does it happen multiple times? When this happens with my AC it happens multiple times, not just a one time sound...

It's the car pressurizing the lines to make sure there aren't any leaks. Normal.

Makes sense to me, but why doesn't everyone else say they've heard it? It's loud. Very noticeable.

Just drive without A/C on and if it does it then most of us are wrong. But to me, it sounds like my car does most days with a/c on about 15 seconds after getting out of it. Sometimes it makes a sizzle sounds, but other times it makes more of sound similar to yours. Maybe it depends on just how much condensation falls.

That happens when you start the car and it's kind of a mechanical whirring sound, not a blowoff sound.

Just drove with it being 10 degrees or so cooler tonight and it didn't do it. For now I'm done worrying.

Just like everyone else said, but only seems like a couple of people are listening, it is the A/C dripping. Happens to me only when the A/C is on for a longer period on warm days.
