Front Lip On Lowered M
I just lowered my e90 M yesterday on Kw Sleeves and went all the way low in the front which the car looks great but had to remove my Revinora Rcrt lip in fear of damaging the lip. I Love the way it looks but don't want to damage it. How do you lowered guys drive around with these GTS lips and Arkym's that look much lower. I also love the Arkym and would love to get one in the future but i'de cry if something happens to that baby.
Here is a pic for reference how low the car sits with the lip on. My previous 135i had an Icarbon was not as low as my M. I've owned several cars that were lower then my M before but parts were much cheaper, ie: a front lip for a Mk3 VR6 Jetta was like 90 bucks or an Accord i had was about the same price. Only 2 options to keep the car lowered would be either BMW Performance Cf front spoiler or lip-less!

It can be a compromise.

A tad isn't going to make much of a difference. It's not like its tucking the tires or anything just low enough to remove the wheel gap. Hopefully other owners who are low with lips chime in. I'm sure if i lived in Florida i'de have no problem but these stupid NY roads

You should get the R-CRT "Street Version" it sits much higher and with a lowered car its what will save you. I know it saved me. In fact I'm gonna sell mine if you want it let me know. I'm getting a bigger lip since I'm sitting on bigger wheels and thus a higher car.

I have this lip and have had zero problems scraping to date:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=713604 I don't believe there are any lips out there that sit higher, and you can't beat its fit and finish. It's pricey, but worth it.

I'm lowered on RD Sport springs which is one of the lower springs matched with an Arkym Lip and I get decent clearance but it gets edgy when I come in contact with an angled driveway/garages, potholes, curbs or raised manhole especially driving around midtown and taking the Henry Hudson. Your ground clearance + front lip would take away any enjoyment of driving the car on a daily basis and IMO would wear on me within a week.

I have gone through 4 lips in 4 years with the car in Socal. Dropped on H&R springs. I wouldn't think of dropping my car that low if I lived in NYC again. You should raise the car to a reasonable height if you want to consider a lip. No lip or splitters will last on those vicious roads with your current ride height. You will never get to enjoy the 414 ponies under the hood.

+1... that is where I cheaped out in my cosmetic modding.
If you daily drive your car its almost insane not to do it. I cant imagine the pain I would feel everytime I miscalculate a parking bump or tried an incline without angling, though after owning the car for almost 4 years Ive learned but still randomly scuff it here and there. Of course if you are balling out of control and a G+ is nothing to you then more power to ya! |
