As the title spells out and since spring decided to arrive late this year so we have time for another poll ...
So let us simply vote on three choices about the mighty V8 in our cars For any of you that don’t care or don’t know what the engine looks like here are some photos you can admire I know some of us never ever lift the hood on this fine automobile. So, before you cast your vote have a good look at your Engine ---> Right here after you Click Anyway ... let us simply vote on
Let us tell them how we really feel Thanks for taking the time to vote, not being a political voting choice makes it fun all for voting ... BTW, any of you have an idea what the 80% outcome of this poll might mean for the ///M4 of the next Generation ??? will there be less sales since more of us will charish our e9x ///M3 Hmmm I wonder

Will never sell this car. It's the only V8 NA M engine. Basically a smaller version of the S85 V10 power plant.
Although turbos go against the original M philosophy IMO, I knew it was going that route. Torque plus higher efficiency and less emissions is the new "green".

Will I get the f80 m3, maybe. Will I trade in my e92 for it, no. That engine (and the complete car for that matter) is only matched in character and soul with a select few cars.

Not true. E39 M5 had an NA V8....
That said, I don't think I'll be selling this car any time soon either, and sadly if I do I don't think it will be for a newer M3. I've just become hopelessly addicted to V8s, especially NA, and the only BMWs that have V8s of any kind now are way heavier than I'd want. So if I were to jump for something else it would likely be something radically different like a C7 Z06 Vette depending on how it turns out. The only other car that I'm remotely interested in these days is a Subaru BRZ -- very different car from the M3 to be sure, but very similar purely in terms of "smiles per mile" even though it costs 1/3 as much, and unlike the M3 you don't have to be on a track to really enjoy the car to its potential. Then again, there's also all the rumors around BMW and Toyota's collaboration on a future sports car, suggesting a) that the Supra will be revived, and that b) a new Z2 will emerge sharing its underpinnings with said Supra. I could potentially be enticed by that on lightweight fun even if I had to give up the V8.

I'm definitely not selling my E92 M3. The last N/A V8 is a definite keeper !
m3 had enthusiasts, only real enthusiasts (mostly) would buy M3. Now with the turbocharge technology, the marketing radius is larger, emission and all that nature shit, will make more prefer the new Ms. However, I might get a CLA 45 amg if the price is right. The gap between M cars and supercars are becoming really small here

I'm a BMW Fan but when you start "piping in" engine noise through the stereo to give the sensation of a performance engine, something is just not right.
I'm sure the new M3/M4 engine will be awesome and I hope to own one someday BUT it won't sound like my S65. Man, that S65 is amazing! |

The v8 is amazing...so amazing it is worth the moderate (and often pitiful) mpg. To quote Jeremy Clarkson, "this engine turns carbon dioxide into [beautiful] noise!"
I would supercharge before "downgrading" to an inline 6...

Only a few of us can understand and appreciate all the aforementioned steps. I remember the time when I was a little fellow and my dad took his engine apart a Benz engine before the end of WWII all parts properly labelled for reassembly, nothing compared to the picture below. I became a car nut way back then and seeing the S65 being put on the shelf and replaced for the new generation of ///M3's with a turbo boosted engine just troubles me. On the other hand it is true what they say "change is inevitable"

That quote was about the RS5 (aka nemesis), but I guess that can apply to M3 too

I like my 08 ///M3 so much, I'll eventually buy a 2013 E90 ///M. I do wonder how bmw will tune the twin turbo V6. If it sounds like the GTR then woah.

Its also kind of funny to see the people who really like how they are doing a inline TT 6 are the ones who currently own a inline 6 ROFL. Typical.
Only the current M3 owners really are the ones to get a feel for this car and understand why we all love a V8 . |

My present car is an E92 M3. I remain open minded about the F8X. I will make my judgment when more information is present and I have test driven the car myself. I absolutely love the S65 engine.
