I'm guessing around 70% DCT also. The DCT number would be higher if they offered it in 08.

Just look at the cars for sale on the used market. It's primarily DCT... Although you could argue MT tend to hold on to their cars longer but...

I think once production is complete, the BMW M Registry will receive that information and post it accordingly. You can go there now, http://www.bmwmregistry.com/ and look at the production numbers of cars past. Currently, the E9X, F10, X5 or any current production vehicle cannot be selected under the FAQs. This info would start showing up soon.

Im curious to see # of certain colors...

The last purpose-built ///M engine that we'll see in a loooooong time. End of an era for BMW.

My E92M is the only BMW I ever bought, even though I had been a fan of the brand ever since I first laid eyes on an E21 as a 6-year old boy. I was a particular fan of the 2002, the E34, the E36M -- god did I want an E36M so badly -- the E36/8M, the E46M CSL, and the E90M CRT. I tried getting into an E46M back in 2001, but I couldn't afford it. I'm glad I finally got to live the BMW experience with my E92M. I know it's heavier and more refined than the BMWs that I grew up coveting, but that S65 more than made up for it. What a glorious engine.

Sadly, I think this will be the last new BMW I'll get into for the foreseeable future. I was seriously considering getting the F86 when that comes out, but I have a hard time believing that it won't be even softer and less involving than this generation of ///M cars. And, frankly, I don't want a turbo engine. To that, I've resolved to trade in for a CPO E90M and then get a 981 Cayman R whenever that car comes out. Lightweight, NA, rear-wheel drive, with a good manual transmission. No need to get one car that tries to do two things poorly when I could get two that do different things really well. The E90M for hauling people around quickly, and the 981CR for a proper driving experience.

I hope BMW comes around and makes a proper driver's car again sometime in the future. I really do think the company was at its best when it was making those kind of cars.

The S63Tu is nice from a spec standpoint. In real life, its power delivery is boring as hell. This has already been well documented in multiple car reviews.

I for one never called the E46M the last true M. I didn't particularly mind it going from an I6 to a V8: the power delivery and characteristics are the same.

The only thing left for the M division to do is to make an AWD M3. It wasn't that long ago the M division head vowed we would never see turbo engines M cars.

There is a huge chasm between the feel of an S65 and any turbo engine on the market. Instant throttle response, needing to rev to go really fast, completely linear nature.

The world may well be divided between M owners who dream of a GTR as their next car vs the ones who think of a GT3.
The GTR crowd must be really happy we're losing NA engines.

I am not part of that crowd. I've driven a 600hp GTR which left me extremely bored, and a 600hp E92 M3 which felt spectacular.

Bottom line is that if you need max torque at 1300rpm you should learn how to drive. In Europe they make diesel cars for all the people who cannot shift gears and want a lot of torque down low.

Unlikely when the CEO of BMW says no to an M8 because it doesn't follow the efficient dynamics and connected drive direction the company is going in.

Frankly pathetic.

For all that's been said - arguments against the AMG C and even the GTR, it's weight, dilution through limited edition models and so forth, for about 7 years, the E9x M3 was almost universally considered the best GT car under 100k. That's an incredible achievnent coming on the back of the E46.

Mine has put a smile on my face far more than anything material in the 6k miles I've had it.

Certainly not the end of anything, but major kudos to BMW for showing what matters in a car.

Though I am not echoing the sentiment that if you simply enjoy or even need torque down low, you need to learn how to drive, I must say that the 335i with either N54 or N55 is a car that the overwhelmingly majority of owners could easily lose control of without nannies on.

Of course enthusiasts or experienced drivers may feel perfectly comfortable with this power, but that engine in a small car can get a noob in big trouble pretty quickly. It's insane how many utterly mediocre drivers out there have that 300/300 power on tap at their demand even if they don't drive spiritedly.

The best thing about the NA S65 to me is the incredibly predictable and manageable characteristics of the car. You always know the output you will get based on your own input. As a decent but non professional driver, I felt that my 335is was far more skittish and weird feeling towards its own mechanical limits.

I was talking about the F30 M3 Sedan being a year out from hitting US streets, I'd be really surprised if the M4 showed up in early 2014 with the M3 as the coupes are usually a year behind the sedans. Here's to hoping...although I'm not in a big rush because I'd like to have at least 12 months of owning the latest body style M3 before Im out dated
