This guy was in full automatic mode, not shifting at all, best I could tell.

The guy in the z06 said he's getting a viper acr now because z06 was too slow!

GT3 is always among the fastest and even fastest of the day sometimes. Good driver. Shitty situation.

The youtube description is ridiculous and shows the f'd up mentality these two(driver and weird asian dude pointing left and right) bring to an hpde.
yea that was me at 2:45 lol. I will post soon the video where he passes me.

wtf both their lines were horrible. This says nothing about which car/driver is better. Only how not to do a track day.

That was the GT3 that was with us on Sunday.

It's hard to have good lines when you don't know if the idiot behind you is going to jump into your path from behind!! Any other time, his lines are great and I try to keep up!

I've only watched the first 3 minutes and the guy is doing nothing but pointing to where he wants the student to be on track -- and he's using the wrong arm, which means he probably isn't even in the student's field of vision. But more importantly than that, the instructor isn't even looking at this guy's wild steering inputs and throttle technique. Of course lack of a communicator means there's only so much the instructor can say in the first place, but that's just further evidence of a poor instructor (and/or poorly run DE group) rather than an excuse for the lack of more comprehensive instruction.

If that were my student, I also would not have let him trail a GT3 that closely for that long, especially given his apparent skill level. If the GT3 isn't giving a pass for whatever reason (probably because he knows he'll need it right back in the corners), then I would tell that student to hang back and let him get away. Sitting on somebody's tail like that, especially going into a braking zone where the guy in front may well have more stopping ability than you, is not only a recipe for an accident, it's also less enjoyable than just hanging back for a while and then having some open track in front of you.

But here are my personal favorites in this video for those who don't want to watch the whole thing:

- 5:35: Full throttle in a 650hp car with the wheel turned 100 degrees and another car less than a quarter car length directly in front of him.

- 5:55 to 6:20: Preoccupation with passing the GT3 caused him to again go full throttle mid-corner multiple times (once directly behind the GT3) and take a momentum-destroying line that even had him hitting a cone. And then the priceless, absurd and completely unearned "victory rant" on the front straight.

- 6:44: Takes his hand off the wheel while doing 120 MPH...to honk his horn!! And even if there were a good reason to do that on track, this wasn't one.

- 13:20 to 13:25: While understeering, cranks the wheel harder hoping that somehow physics would stop applying to him, then cranks hard the other direction right away, and THEN buries the throttle while still making huge steering corrections on corner exit.

- 14:57: Full throttle with the wheel turned more than 180 degrees!!
Best narrative ever.

I just watched more of the vid and you are right once the GT3 breaks away after traffic and is safe from the Z06, he takes great lines.

Funny how the 475 HP Porsche is just as fast in the straights as the 650 HP Z06. Speaking of which, the 143-ish speeds by the Z06 at the start/finish line proves it's not making anywhere near 650 HP. That's more like 500 HP. I was hitting mid 160's at the start/finish on a 3550 lb car maybe 650-700 HP at most since I was on 91 octane.

your car is 3550 pounds? wow never knew that.

The great z06 driver said his car was overheating. Or maybe it was a lame excuse because he was slow around the banking.

Did you see some punk looking kid with a chevy corvette shirt around our garage with an asian side kick at all? The culprits. LOL.

If I saw them they certainly weren't memorable. Was this guy in your run group? Did he menace you just like everyone else? I didn't see him when I was checking out your session when it was the two GT3's out front, the Camaro and then you, lapping the rest of the field.

The Vette driver's horrible lines were scrubbing off momentum in the corners so he appeared to have poor corner exit speed and had to play catch up on the straights. Not to keep harping on this, but the message needs to be clear to those who watch this video and the example set that anyone who attempts this type of driving on a track is endangering lives. If one life ends up being saved by watching the video, the pile-on would be worth it.

Completely agree. Apparently this has been sent to the admins at Speed Ventures so this guy will just end up banned there and then doing the Extreme Speed events

From what I read, the GT3 driver was NOT a pro otherwise he would have left this idiot behind. Definitely a great example of how NOT to drive or instruct on track. We have been discussing it all day among my track buddies. Also, I believe the GT3 driver actually put down faster lap times according to other's comments.

We need worldwide pile on so this goes on jalopnik. Then the red m4 can rest

1. WTF

2. Nannies saved his car/life more than a few times

3. That was his buddy in the passenger seat. No experienced driving coach / instructor would risk their life allowing someone to drive with such an ego and lack of skill

4. WTFFF

This is absurd!! I was in the booth so couldn't be on track, but I had a lot of friends out there that day. Really thankful he did not take anyone else out
