V6 available in March 2011
I was in my local BMW dealership discussing the benefits (obvious) and the drawbacks (wight and gas) to the V8. The rep hinted to me that in the new year run (March she said) BMW may offer a V6 that would have as much HP as the V8 but would not carry the weight or the high gas consumption saving fuel cost and the gas guzzler tax.
Has anyone heard this? What are the odds its true? Either way I am a fan of the V8 and think I would lean that way but wanted to know if this is at all "real"?? |

She is mis informed. As of now there is no V6, straight 6, or any other engine slated for the e9x M line up. BMW sends us updates daily something like this would have def popped up on our radar. She could be talking about the rumored f3X M3 that is due to be out sometime in the future (2014ish), but even if she was, there is no one who knows any info on that either.

She's obviously confusing the next gen m3, which is presumed to be a turbo 6, with the current gen, which will absolutely not get a different engine. Next gen M3 won't be out until 2014 btw. |

Thx GOLFFRR, figured you would have good intel on that!
I am a fan of the V8 anyways but more interested in the possibilities. My time frame for ordering is most likely a few months out (March/April) so I guess I will have some better detail on what the new run looks like...I think I have most everything nailed down...it would just be great to have LSB generally available instead of the $5K price tag! |

Thanks guys, I agree the lack of info is a bit off putting...and she was definitely talking about a pre next gen option. She made it clear that the the next gen would be out 2014 and most likely will have some version of a 6...even mentioned a diesel option for that one?
This was def a hint towards a current gen V6 option...I will bury that as an idea as it seems to be bad info...good thing I was going for the V8 anyways! Speaking of turbos...does it bother anyone else that the M has always been a true "race car" i.e. no 4 or all wheel drive and naturally aspirated engines...in my mind a turbo puts it into a fast fun car but not something that would be legal on a tack as a true race car...thoughts? |

It's amazing how misinformed some sales people are about the products that they're selling...

Did SHE tell you if the new V6 coming in march will have the hatchback option?

The odds of the V6 in March are the same odds that, following your conversation with her, the female BMW sales rep you spoke with tore open her shirt, stuffed her boobs in your face, and brought herself to orgasm by humping your leg vigorously.
