Performance Friction Direct Drive rotors

PFC Direct Drive Rotors....with 6 weekend track events on them....Thickness is just a little under 30 mm....within spec...

The cracks has got me a little worried....do you guys think it's good for a couple more weekends?

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely. Those heat cracks are totally normal. Just watch out for cracks that are deeper and/or originate from one of the dimples. The ones in the latter category I can see are fine and there aren't many anyway. You're good to go!

Thanks for the info.

Just started seriously going to the track last year, and this is my first set of rotors....and just learning the ropes.

Hard to tell what's ok and what's not.

I'm of the type who'll probably spend some extra $$ to replace parts early to prevent a catastrophic failure at speed which would probably cost me a lot more $$$ to fix.

Looks good to me. Those are amazing Rotors by the way I wouldn't worry too much unless you see what jphuganhn (post #2) stated. I would worry more when you start to see the cracks becoming visible such as this picture below, you can see the crack originating from the edge and moving into the drilled area. If you can run your fingernail over it and feel resistance this is a problem.

Those are cross drilled, and the PFC are dimpled. They should resist cracking a bit better.

Thanks, I thought they were drilled, I just realized that they only make these dimpled. I should have know being i was going to buy a set before getting ST60 380mm for my fronts. I figured the picture quality was off. Either way when you have Drilled look for this.

Advice I've received from brake guys is when you can catch a fingernail in the cracks it's time to consider replacing.

Garage List
2004 BMW M3  [4.50]
2011 BMW E90 M3  [5.25]
2013 BMW 328i  [5.00]
If that bothers you...wait until they get close to 28mm!

In the past, I've never been able to run a set of slotted Stoptech aero rotor discs down to the minimum runout because they get some pretty bad cracks.
