I'm driving at that event, so let me know if you'll be there. People are allowed to catch rides with instructors even if they're not participants themselves, but considering how many people are likely to be there, passenger seat availability might be an issue.

The first goes out to Johnson City and then on to Fredericksburg if you want to go that far. The first part can have some traffic and doesn't have great passing zones, but that clears up pretty early on. The Stripes in Johnson City is a decent break point, and Hondo's in Fredericksburg has amazing burgers. Fredericksburg itself is actually a historical German town and a cool place to kill an afternoon perusing the shops up and down Main St, btw -- especially with a significant other. There's also a classic car dealer called Street Dreams out there that has a huge showroom with all kinds of vintage muscle cars and other classics, some going back to the 1930s. And the second route is the one I mentioned earlier that's essentially a way to spend 3.5 hours getting to San Antonio. It's a ton of fun though, another mix of more open higher speed roads and smaller more twisty technical roads, with pretty nice scenery throughout. Again, the stopping points I marked are decent break points (one is just a rest area with a nice view and the other is a convenience store), and The Cove has some pretty good food. Fredericksburg Drive San Antonio Drive

Wish I could have made it, but saw this a little too late. It looks like you guys had a good turn out. I am going to try to make it out to COTA in a few weeks. Look forward to meeting some semi-local M3 owners.

Just a Megan with a gutted primary cat. Nothing fancy but I really liked the sound.
By the way what was everyone's first names? I am terrible with names and only remember a couple. Just so next meet i'm not like..."heeeyyy... you". I'm Jake, the other was Jason. |

And here I clicked back into this thread after seeing new posts in it thinking we were scheduling another one.
Incidentally, this Saturday is the local BMW CCA chapter's Annual Bluebonnet Drive, which runs from South Austin out to the Willow City Loop (should be really nice with all the bluebonnets I'm seeing even here in Austin) and then down to Fredericksburg. It won't be as fast as the drive we took, but the roads are definitely great (it's my route ), the people are fun, and judging by the signups on the website there are going to be a LOT of people. Check out www.tejaschapter.org if you want to find it -- yes, we know the website is more than a decade overdue for a redesign. Otherwise, if people are up for it I think it might be fun to do a route I came up with to San Antonio. It's all hill country roads with a mix of more open segments for all of you SC'd people and a few smaller, twistier roads for us trained drivers. I ran it once with two other friends. They brought a BRZ and a 997 C2S, so we divided the route up into 3 segments and switched cars along the way -- fun mix of cars to jump between. Anyway, we decided to end the route with lunch at The Cove in San Antonio, and with the stops, the trip took around 3 hours. Anyone down?
