2011 Tail Lights For An 08 Sedan ?

So i am new to the M3 world, in fact my car will not even be here till this week some time.

I was wondering do they sell the 2011 style tail lights for a sedan ? I have only seen them for coupes and convertibles

thanks for your help !

Requires changing to the "LCI" ('09+) trunk, the trunk-mounted part of the LCI taillights is a totally different shape from the '06-'08 E90 taillights. Most of the aftermarket trunks for these cars use the LCI taillights so if you're wanting to lose some weight and update at the same time, that's a good way to go.

Yeah, you'll need a new trunk in addition to the lights. It's well worth the cost, in my opinion.

Whether you go with an OEM or an aftermarket trunk, you'll most likely need to get it painted.

The E90 is a sedan, and the E92 is a coupe.

Other than that obvious difference, the coupe sits a bit lower and comes with a carbon fiber roof option. The sedan is a bit wider, shorter, taller, and heavier than the coupe, and doesn't have the option for the CF roof. Otherwise, they're identical in terms of performance.

A reputable shop like IND will have no problem color matching your trunk. You should do a little research on them and you'll quickly find that they're very well respected among this community (and deservedly so) for the quality work that they do.

Yes they will paint it and ship to you. IND is well known for their paint matching for BMWs and been doing it for years.

Heres the Challenge trunk for the E90 Sedan that i personally love. If you have questions then send them a PM and they be more than happy to guide you through on how to convert your 08 to the new style tailights.

I prefer the OEM blacklines on '08's to the LCI lights on certain colors, but blue isn't one of them. Still it's an option and a huge improvement over the OEM '08 tails. No trunk swap required and no coding issues to deal with, not that that's a big deal.

There are a number of minor differences between the '08 and the '11 E90 M3. The three biggest ones, however, are:
  1. LCI: The 2009 E90s received a slight facelift. For the M3, this means the revised LED taillights and trunk.
  2. iDrive: Most BMWs received a heavily updated version of the iDrive that's faster and sleeker than the old one, and comes with a fancier knob.
  3. ZCP: In 2011, BMW offered the ZCP package as an option, which adds a lower suspension and larger wheels than stock, plus enhanced MDM and Sport EDC settings.

Any new tailights came out since 2010 that would be simpler to install...? ...without having to replace the truck??

Thx Tom, I'll take a look.

BTW, lots of them on Ebay... There's a couple models I quite like... but hard to know in advance if there's any quality issues...

Just a hint - I've decided to keep my original tailights... But If I still wanted to do the full swap to the LCI rear end, I'd jump on this:
