A rough start to M3 ownership...
Well, some of you may have seen that i posted in august that i had finally picked up my 08 e90 m3 from a dealer in Connecticut. One of the greatest all around cars i have owned. I believe this is number 16 for me, ranging from Evos(A LOT of them, i think 6), to a Heads/cam c6z06, all the way down to an SR20 240sx. But i always wanted the e90 M3, so after cycling through all 15 cars, i decided it was time. I picked the car up like this:
I got the car on a saturday. Just before leaving for an Orioles game 6 days later, I got a christmas tree of lights, with reduced power. The dreaded throttle actuator....On monday i took the car to BMW of towson where a good friend is a tech(If youre in the baltimore area and want work done, but dont trust any dealer tech, PM me, ill give you his info, hes AWESOME.). After waiting 4 days for BMW NA to get back about a "goodwill" request, we settled and the part was order on Thursday. Monday was labor day, so i didnt get the car back until tuesday around 5:30 when i got off. After signing for a nice hefty bill, i went to a AAA baseball game with my GFs parents. Around 9 oclock, since i had just gotten my car back, i decided to go into town to see if any local car meets were going on. I found a few friends at a popular spot...and it allllll went downhill. Parked the car, began talking for a little bit. From a restaurant around the corner, a young waiter is a 2005 Mustang GT decided to be the cool guy, try to show off for us, and drift his mustang around the corner. Needless to say, it didnt work for him, and my ///M i had just picked up 4 hours before, was now smashed up in the rear. He manage to hop a median, missing 2 trees and a light pole, and hit my car, THE ONLY CAR parked on that side. The scene(My car was parked right up against the curb before it was hit) The bumper, exhaust, tail lights, trunk, and rear quarter were all damaged. After searching for the best body shop i could find, i settled on one and had to wait 2 weeks to drop the car off. They had the car for 19 days, and the results were just about perfect. They did a GREAT job on it. I wish i had never had to deal with it, but atleast it was the best possible. Thanks to Eric(Classic6) i was able to get a vorsteiner LCI trunk, and new LCI tails from BMW out of it. In the mean time while it was at the shop, i picked up a set of MORR wheels, as well as a set of Recaro CS sportsters from Sal@autocouture. The finished product: **Trunk wasnt on yet in this picture* Me Just being stupid lol Phew, long winded i know. So thats where it stands today...Since i got the car back from the body shop, is the longest amount of time i have gotten to drive it in the 3 months i have owned it. Going on about 3 weeks lol. |

Wow the end product looks amazing though! Any interior shots? Really bad luck with the run in with the Mustang though. Did he say anything to you after that incident? Always curious to know what the douche has to say when his attempt to show off doesn't work out. Hope he got cited for something.

When his dad arrived, he FREAKED out on him, to the point the cops had to tell his dad to calm down. He didnt realize he had hit my car yet, he thought the damage was from the tree. When he turned and pointed to my car, his dad sais "THE BMW?! YOU HIT THE F**KING BMW!!" A pretty interesting situation. I can post interior pictures. Very basic just CS sportsters in black with a BMW performance steering wheel. Im gonna do some pretty cool things to my interior this winter, If it turns out how i envision it, should be pretty sweet!! Thanks for the compliments on the car! I may sell the MORR wheels this winter and get a new set, just to change it up! |

Ahh I've had a rough start as well. Nearly $3k in servicing/ fixing since I picked it up in April. Hopefully it'll be smooth sailing here on out, for the both of us.

Congratulations on the new M, and great job on taking some of the troubles you've had in stride. The car is that much better with the LCI trunk and tail lights.

Definitely happy to hear you've finally got everything squared away.
Car looks great! I myself have been without my 328 for 2 months after being rear ended. And I had just installed lci tail lights two months prior to the accident, and an mtech rear bumper with cf diffuser 24 hours prior... Shit happens. |

hahha i did! Just didnt have many pictures with it lol. Btw My GTS lip is probably my favorite mod to the car! I bought it 3 days after buying the car!!
Thanks for all the compliments! Im happy i was able to get teh LCI out of it, but truthfully would have rather just pay for it, than have such a clean and clear car hit. But, it is what it is. |
