Dash storage?

One thing I didn't notice before my purchase is that there lacks space to store things in the console area of the car, unless you count the cubby under the armrest.

I don't have heated seats, nor do I have the rear sunshade, which leaves me with a blank block where the buttons to control those options usually go.

Is there something I can buy that will convert that block to something where I can put things in? (Id badge, phone, etc)

I tried searching for dash storage but didn't come up with anything. Thanks in advance.

that is very intriguing and I will look into it, but I am specifically looking for something that will replace the plastic piece that is located where the seat heater/sunshade buttons would go. Right now, it's just a waste of space.

I don't believe there's a cubby to replace that section like there is on other cars.

From looking at other threads where that panel is removed, it looks like there is a module or computer just behind that panel and there is no room for a cubby. I too had been looking to see if there was something that could convert that blank panel to some storage. Maybe someone with more experience can confirm.

I know what you mean OP. I store my gate opener in the ashtray and I bought the ECS Euro Sunglasses Holder to replace the driver's side oh-shit handle (when does the driver ever use that handle anyway??), but yeah there isn't room for much else, nor have I seen any options other than the above-mentioned tray. Unless you count the door pockets, I guess.

Badge would probably fit in the ashtray; mine from a previous job did. Phone I keep in my pocket thanks to Bluetooth audio streaming, or in the glovebox when I need to charge it -- which constantly causes me to forget to take it with me when I leave the car.

Do you have the home link buttons on your mirror?

Yes, but my apartment complex installed a gate opener system that is intentionally incompatible with HomeLink to prevent residents from cloning the openers and retaining access to the complex when they're no longer residents. I was very bummed. At least the garages are HomeLink-compatible.

Come on man just admit you're looking for a spot to stash to dope... It's limited in the 3 series. I got a 7 series loaner, and man oh man. I had so many little doors, shelves, panels I ran out of things to store..
