5880 Miles in 13 days

So I just finished a whirlwind trip of sorts in my E92 M3 with my buddy in his E60 550i, from Houston to Niagra Falls, to Cape Cod, to the Bourbon Trail, back up to NYC and then Houston. All in all we clocked 5880 miles over a 14 day period, but actual drive days were 8, averaging over 700 miles per drive day. I won't comment on the average speeds.

All in all the car performed flawlessly and I had an epiphany - why would I need any more car that what this platform has delivered? I have been really down on BMW for the last few years - but this drive - more than any other has proven that the platform is as solid a performer than anything else out there. As much as I love P-cars, I cannot see how they would have performed better.

So the next step is to change the oil with a follow up BS report to see if it confirms the good news I had on the first few and then I will have a decent trend established.

Sounds good. I really enjoy the S65 on the freeway during long drives.

P-car would also be good. Just different good.

We took as many back roads as we possibly could - but yes the car is sublime on the freeway. Thanks to my Escort and WAZE, we kept out of trouble when navigating the twisties.

90% of the time I don't even bother enjoying the premium sound. On these long trips, I enjoy the intoxicating sound of the S65 and MPE as I stare at the hood and inlets. I especially love driving at night as the console looks so damn good and pleasant on the eyes.

A car that can cover miles?!!!

Insane!!!

...... I don't get these threads.... Are these cars supposed to blow up if driven over 50 miles a day?

Most people don't want to do a ton of miles in a sports car... They usually aren't comfortable.

I drive 800km in my old C63 AMG and my ass was in pain beyond belief.

sounds like you had a fun trip. The M3 is a great long distance cruiser. Comfortable and fast.

I also did a 5000 mile trip in my M3 a few years ago.

I'm pretty sure I've spent hours watching leaves stuck in the hood inlets on the while on the freeway.
