e92 or M235i?
So what do you guys think pick up a used e92 or just order a new M235i? new interior new body style new nav unit or the 2011 newer M3 a much better car and worth sacrificing the newer technologies and interior design? looking for some input thanks guys!

Hmmm...well I do like the look of the new M235i, and if you're set on brand new (although there may still possibly be some new e92 M3s at dealerships out there somewhere--you might just have to get it in mint green!) then your choice is made. Personally, though, I wouldn't take anything for my e92 m just at the moment. I love everything about it! If you can get a reasonable deal on an e92, then that's what I'd do. It's a future classic, I believe. I just love every single time I have the privilege of climbing behind the wheel! I doubt you'll find too many dissenting opinions on this board. Good luck!

You know there's a real M2 coming down the pipeline, right?
But even so, there's absolutely nothing out or even coming out in the next few years that I'd rather have than my M3. The new Z06 MAYBE, though the extra running costs at the track (on top of having a car payment again) and decreased practicality would have to be factored in. The E9x M3 is a future piece of history and plain and simple something truly special IF you'll drive it in the manner it was designed to be driven. If you will, then you should absolutely get one. You'll be reminiscing about it long after you no longer have it.

e92. Too many bugs to work out on first year releases and it will be a better and cheaper market a few years from now. Enjoy the e92 now then switch it up in a few years time.

I just feel the M235i is just as fast as the e92 if not faster and more tuning potential with the turbo. I know there is an M2 coming but dont feel i can wait that long

Straight line speed, is what makes up 20% of the car, what about the other 80%

There was a comparison between these exact 2 somewhere on this board that I read, last week I think. Basically the realization was e92 M3 was still the king in the corners, and still better (although only marginally so) in the straight.

Obviously a partisan board, but here is my analysis (and I am in the same boat).
Pros: Better gas Mileage, full warranty, free maintenance, better torque, better electronics, lighter, smaller, possibly lower insurance costs, 8 speed auto is pretty good, extended warranty down the line much cheaper Cons: Won't handle as well, not as good looking, less prestige, interior not as nice, less steering feel, poser M, no carbon fiber roof. Let me throw a third option. A loaded 228 with a six speed does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, weighs less than the M235, costs $6,000 less, and for about $500 in a btune will likely be nearly as fast.

If it was a 235is would we be having this conversation? Don't fall for the marketing gimmick, the m235 is a nice car but it's not a m car. BMW has decided to ditch the (is) badge and start whoring out the m logo....and it's working.
Test drive both, you'll see the difference. The m3 has a dct, high revving v8 that is one of the sickest engines BMW has built and the balance, steering, suspension in the m3 is worlds ahead of the m235. I've had a FBO n54 335 that was very quick and the m3 is on a totally different level. Btw, a FBO m3 is much quicker than people give it credit, that's really all you need on the street (says the guy with a supercharger hah) I don't think you can go wrong with a m235, but I wouldn't pass on a m3

Bugs in the first year of vehicles is a myth with modern engineering. Bad engineering yes, but not bugs.

I have a feeling that if you actually took each one on a test drive, it would become very clear very quickly which one you'd rather have.

For real M owners, the M badge should not be on anything but an M car. We all paid for that badge. M235i is fine. But not the three color M badge.

And bugs don't exist in modern engineering? I guess it depends on what you consider a bug. I would consider all of the above a bug, and all of them definitely still exist.

I actually paid for the car's performance at the track and enjoyment on the road, not the badge. The badge can go where it wants; I just want (and know I have) a car with a certain performance and enjoyment profile. I guess I'm not a real M owner. I never realized that the real owners were the ones who paid up just to have a badge so they could claim to be real M owners. No wonder those real M owners feel threatened that the badge is now being applied to less expensive cars. I'm sure glad that I as an apparent poser M owner don't have to deal with that nonsense.
